Have to assume Nevitt is indeed going or else one of Hemmings or Nevitt is doubtful fitness wise but even so I struggle to see the rationale given Taylor was being preferred for bench duty albeit with pretty much zero likelihood of him ever being brought on.
All a bit of a shambles really.

Nevitt departing? Surely not. He’s had some good moments of course but I’d be very surprised if he left. Only signed a contract fairly recently. More likely that him or Hemmings picked up a knock with all the effort on Wednesday hence burtons recall

There are suggestions that one of the strikers has a knock and Burton has simply been brought back as a precaution.

Burton has been playing regularly and is match fit, unlike Taylor, so it probably makes sense to bring him back.

Or Mumbongo’s injury is worse than first thought. All sorts of possibilities. As said, we’ll soon find out.

Incidentally, the rumour of Burton (Albion, not Jake!) and Morecambe being interested in Nevitt seems to have come from one of the more credible rumour Twitter accounts… if there is any such thing. It has over 20k followers anyway.

Wasn’t he the bloke who started the one about Norwood coming back? ;)

Anyway, makes a change for a Rovers rumour to come from a football feed other than a kid with a handful of followers, calling himself some kind of “hub”. Pinch of salt job for sure, but not immediately dismissible.

Glatzel was apparently at the training ground on Thursday for "fitness checks"...

Morecambe signed striker last night on seasons loan from Huddersfield, unless they sell Stockton I doubt they will sign Nevitt

I stand to be proved wrong but I just cannot see Nevitt going up a level at present. He simply does not score enough goals. If Glatzel does sign then Elliott may well sit behind him and ahead of Mumbongo who appears to have fitness issues.

Nevitt has more goals to his name this season than Hemmings.

If Glatzel were to join Rovers and remain fit, then his role would be mainly to supply Hemmings. He wasn't that prolific as a scorer for Rovers during his last loan spell.

League One clubs will be interested in Nevitt because of his potential, and his ability to improve rapidly. I don't think it would be the right move for him if he left now, but that does not mean the interest is not genuine.

Glatzel was prolific when he was a) fully match fit and b) played in a front two alongside Hemmings. He would score plenty of goals at this level if he stayed fit.

True Boz as Hemmings is playing "out of position" often out left and as we saw in the first few minutes yesterday when we put in some great crosses he wasn't therefore in the box...
If Glatzel was here and fit Hemmings would be playing more as an out and out centre forward where ideally he should be all the time.

Yes, we do need more bodies, especially given the injury records of a few in the squad. However, one thing in our favour this season at least is that we started earlier and will finish later. Because of the winter World Cup, the Championship will have a break but L1 and L2 won’t. This will mean fewer midweek games and less chance of a fixture pileup, unless the winter is severe. That should mean more recovery time and fewer injuries. It’s not the complete solution but should help.

The Nevitt situation is a challenging one. Agree he can certainly develop further, though to what extent is hard to gauge. However, if Eliott knows once Glatzel is fully fit he won’t be a regular starter, then if there’s interest from a L1 club, the factors are in favour of a move, even if it’s to a club like Burton and he’s at risk of dropping back down to L2. Think Rovers should offer him a new deal now, but short of silly money indicate that he won’t be allowed to move this window. If he does go we’d need another forward in as well as Glatzel.

If Glatzel does arrive, then given he’s been out for 6 months already, will have to be eased in very gently. Unlikely to be match fit until October at a guess. His scoring record for us is 1 in 4 games, so while more prolific than Nevitt, a way to go to match Hemmings, who’s roughly 1in 3 games. If we do sign Paul and he stays fit, then the potential rewards are immense. It’s a very big IF though.

I agree with ADD about Hemmings having to play out of position. However in pre-season, we’d managed to find a way of getting plenty of balls into the box and he wasn’t having to go searching for it and that was when he was mostly playing alongside Nevitt. So where has that gone awry?

Not expecting much from Mumbongo, so anything we do get can be seen as a bonus. However Burton looked capable on his showing as a sub and given Micky apparently rates Taylor more, perhaps grounds for optimism there.

Just thinking presumably the transfer deadline is 31st August so Wednesday? However you can still sign loan players and out of contract after that? Or only the latter?

Think it’s just out of contract players under current rules.
