Embarrassing for Ipswich. Work, Muhren, Thyssen, Marriner, Beattie. Great players from another age!

Monthe banned for seven games and fined £1,200 for use of homophobic language against FGR last season.

Wonder on what evidence. Nothing captured on the footage although there was a strong reaction from the apparent recipient of the remark.

"An Independent Regulatory Commission found it to be proven and imposed these sanctions during a subsequent hearing," a FA statement read. "The written reasons for these decisions will be published in due course."

You'd think there must have been sufficient evidence to give a 7-game ban and a fine but not sure what this 'balance of probability' takes into account?

I managed to avoid shopping with the wife at Cheshire oaks and made the short trip to the Deva Stadium to watch some of the rovers old boys on display at Chester v Fylde in front of 2000 fans.

New Chester assistant manager Steve McNulty was being as vocal as ever and even more so when the hosts took the lead early in the second half which was followed by fyldes David Perkins being shown a red card for raising his arm. However Ben Tollit who had been quiet up to that point weaved his magic on the right and put in a great cross that the fylde number 10 finished off to make it 1-1

Back came Chester, and Darren Stephenson grabbed a second for Chester when he drove home from the edge of the box. However the visitors were not to be denied when Tollit again showed his worth by smashing in a super strike from the edge of the box to make it 2-2.

Some impressive performances not least the Chester centre back matty williams who looks like one for the future. Glad to see Tollit getting regular game time and will surely be playing at a higher level soon

Steve was a mere boy, passing away at 72! Very sad. Steve was a right winger who started with Liverpool but then made 243 appearances for Rovers between 1973 and 1981. Always a guy who created a buzz when he got the ball. RIP Steve.
An interesting bit of trivia. Apparently Steve played in the first colour Match of the Day in 1968! Black and white TV! A memory only thankfully!
