Duffy has been released. No great surprise there.
He has perhaps disappointed me more than any other of this season's signings. He had obviously worked on his fitness and I expected him to be stand-out at L2 level. Not to be.

We are linked with another Rangers youngster on loan Stephen Kelly a midfielder, don't think we really need another midfielder and we currently have 5 players on loan so sumbody would miss out each week.

That sounds strange unless OConnor was being recalled or someone like Watson was going to be sold. Celtic are actually looking to offload players so will be interesting if OConnor has a future there (same with Doohan)

It must be part of a cunning plan to get Rangers and Celtic into the English leagues by the back door. ;)

Seriously, this guy could be a good signing. He may be young but he played 25 games on loan for Ross County in the SPL last year. If we can establish good relations with the likes of Rangers, Celtic and Liverpool - and look after their players, then we will have access to some good young talent. We may even be able to pick some of them up at the end of their contracts. I think this may be part of Mark's long-term thinking.

Micky hinted in his pre-match interview that we have reasonable money to spend, even if players don't move out of the club, and suggested that we are looking at permanent signings, not just loans.
I wouldn't be surprised if we tried to sign 1 or 2 from the National League

Well thats good to hear we need some permanent deals to be done, let us just hope we get a decent striker through the door

Re Duffy, he had improved his fitness from pre-season but wasn't able to force his way into the team.

It is good the noises from Micky about possibly bringing in players on a permanent basis. We have a full compliment of loans already so that's the way to go.

Micky said in interview he hadn't heard anything from Sunderland as yet
Aah ok thanks - unfortunately Sunderland have already said they will take their time deciding so not 100% certain he will stay yet. May well depend on how their COVID situation goes over next couple of weeks goes I suppose.... hopefully well!

It's interesting that Sunderland have loaned out striker Will Harris to Barrow yesterday for the remainder of the season. That may be good news in terms of their intentions with Hawkes.

Josh Hawkes recalled. Not a surprise given the rumours. The only hope is that it’s temporary until Sunderland overcome any Covid issues. They’ve said they’ll send him back if he doesn’t play. Jack Diamond recalled from Harrogate also.

At least we have Mcpake but unsure how fit he is. Without hawkes we need pace

Hawkes has been recalled by Sunderland. A big blow that, although we now have McPake.

Hopefully he will return later in the month.
