True, and we do need more goals in the side.

Whilst the saying 'never go back' does ring true more often than not, I would love to see James back at Tranmere, even if he only played a cameo role or x% of games. He is a brilliant footballer at this level and has so much more ability than all of the forwards that we have on the books at the moment.

Goals win games, and goal scorers win promotions

Two goals to Mullin defeated Marine. Wrexham now in first round away to Harrogate. A home win seems likely!

Nigel Adkins sacked by charlton. Not a shock given their poor start to the season which has seen CBT in and out of the side

Given how badly it’s gone for Nigel at Charlton with hindsight am relieved he didn’t come here.

Yes, you wonder what might have happened. Sadly, I think Nigel is past his prime and a spent force.

Managerial careers are strange. They usually start at a certain level and if they do well, they move to a higher level and so on. Eventually, almost inevitably, they end up getting the sack. If they are lucky, they get offered a similar job but often it’s a level down. Then after another sacking they move further down. Few managerial jobs last more than three years before the sack or being poached by a bigger club. The career pattern seems to be to progress in the early years followed by an inevitable decline. Once they start to slide, they seldom move back up. Moyes is an exception.

My conclusion is that you are better employing a younger manager on the way up. An experienced manager sacked from a bigger club is unlikely to be the answer. You may quote Rob Edwards, Dave Watson and Mike Jackson, but you need to get the right young manager! Not easy, as we have seen!

They have been very poor so far this season and are struggling at the bottom of the league

Cowley could be the next one. Pompey in bottom half of league 1 and shipped 4 goals in each of their last two games

So much of management is about their interaction with different sets of players. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Also, as coaching methods change some managers are unable to adapt. You might argue that Bruce is a classic case. Real old school not helped by arguably unrealistic fan expectations. There is talk of Fonseca who got the sack at Roma before Mourinho. If he is employed, it will be a whole new ball game for him in a new country. See how he goes but many top managers will have run a mile from that one and nothing to do with the Saudis human rights record!

Mullin should have been sent off for an elbow at Maidenhead, but the referee wrongly brandished the red card at Hossanah, who from the footage looks of Afro-Caribbean stock. Reminiscent of the time Fon Williams and Goodi were disputing who should be sent off v Pools.

The Red Card now correctly transferred to Mullin who misses Wrexham's next 3 games.

Pride comes before a fall. As we found when we got relegated to the National League, every other team regards playing you as their cup final and they raise their game. The owner’s recent moments have simply put Wrexham on a pedestal to be knocked off. As we discovered, what you need to get back into the league is humility, hard work and patience.
