Apparently that is what the Premier league is pushing for though its down to an independent panel.

These financial penalties in the Premier League never seem to materialise. It is an old boys club.

Lo and behold, they have received a ten point deduction.

They will probably still stay up, provided Calvert-Lewin stays fit.

Yeah, some very poor teams in there but I'm actually surprised. What about the other clubs?

I would be very worried if I was a man City fan, Chelsea possibly too.
You wonder if they will 'exempt' those clubs because of the damage that would be done to the EPL 'brand' globally if they received a deduction, particularly City.

The PL has already referred the City case to an independent commission, so any notion of such an ’exemption’ is a non-starter. Don’t know when a verdict in that case is expected.

Back to the Everton case, iirc there was talk recently that the PL wanted a 12 point deduction. Either way, it remains to be seen if the PL, like Everton, intend to appeal today’s verdict.

Incidentally, the full written reasons behind the commission’s decision have been published here: https://resources.premierleague.com...gue-v-Everton-FC-Decision-for-Publication.pdf

EDIT - even with today’s sanction, given the dross currently at the foot of the PL I too still expect Everton will stay up, possibly with quite a bit to spare.

That depends whether the findings of the commission are binding on the Premier League, and whether the League has the ability to influence their findings.

Corruption is hardly unknown in the higher echelons of football.

The league has various mechanisms available to deal with disciplinary breaches. Referral to an independent commission is just one, which is the route they’ve taken with City.

As referenced, the next step for other the club or the league would be the appeal process. Beyond that, and ultimately available in certain situations, is an arbitration process. The outcome of the appeals process is binding as, presumably, is that of the arbitration process.

The commission is independent of the PL.

One of these days you will astonish us all with a civil response to another poster on this forum.
Oh here we go. And once again trying to drag others into it to bolster yourself when you’re the only one floundering. Such a disservice to them.

Recap - you’re the one who was wondering, in response to which I helpfully posted relevant facts, which in turn you dismissed with nothing more than contempt and empty rhetoric.

Carry on?
