Newport should have scored then. Long ball to Bogle, Jameson couldn't deal with it, squares it and their player blasts it over.
He missed a sitter. We’re lucky it’s still just 2-1

Get Hawkes on for Jameson

They’ve shown their defence is frail this season and our most creative player in Hawkes is sat on the bench . We’ll end up leaving it too late

60 mins played. We’ve had one shot on target and their keeper has been a spectator second half. Make a change Micky!! Formation and get Hawkes on

Nearly another own goal for Newport. At least Rovers are pushing forward.

71 mins- Hawkes on but for mclear so still 5 at the back. To be fair cogley has provided some service. Mclear does have a goal in him so I’d rather we’d gone 4 at the back but still think hawkes could be too late

Hawkes on for McAlear. Will this be a better substitution than the first ones, which have made little difference so far. Like Sparky I’d rather we’d gone four at the back and kept Reece on.

Once again we are toothless in the final third. Their keeper has been a spectator this half.

Bogle turns a few defenders, shoots, Doohan makes a good save. Not sure what their keeper is doing, very little sadly.

The hosts have one cleared off the line and we survive a penalty shout.

Getting a bit tired of seeing the hoof into the opposition half, Hemmings flicking it onto on-one and losing possession. Why are we not playing the ball on the floor, getting crosses in for the strikers.

Ohh, I think Newport should have had another pen there. Jameson with another trip.

Woefull result again, the squad is sadly short of quality especially up front and we have played 5 league and 1 Cup games, the recruitment is shambolic again

Not sure what Micky said at half-time but watching that second half was frustrating and we looked toothless.
Newport looked very limited as did Hartlepool on Tuesday yet we only have one point to show. I know it’s early days but surely we can’t have another season of woeful away results. We can harp on about improved performances and potential but it’s points that count.
Hopefully we can avoid a hammering on Wednesday to at least instil a little belief.

Goody two shoes sums it up. Second half when your 2-1 down and hoping for a positive reaction we were woeful going forward. Created nothing. One shot on target says it all in the whole 90 minutes.

They deserved to win over the course of the game. Apart from our goal and a decent 10-15 minute spell before then, they were the better side. And like Hartlepool they are really nothing special.

Why did Micky play the whole game 5-3-2 when it was clear second half that we weren’t creating anything? Hawkes should have been on far earlier to go 4 at the back and give them something different to think about. Recruitment has been poor. No striker on the bench so Hemmings and Nevitt have no competition. All these centre backs and and central midfielders means we have no wide players who can bring some flair, pace and creativity. Apart from hawkes who since his goal and assist v Accrington (and two penalties), hasn’t started a game. What just his confidence be like?!

Yes gillingham was good but in truth they were poor. We didn’t create too much in that game but we’re clinical. One shot on target today sums us up. No plan B at all today. Micky will mention the lack of squad depth but he could have switched to 4-4-2 today with hawkes on one side and mclear on another. So many questions and no doubt Derek Jones will ask the usual easy ones.
