While it is nice that our success on the pitch this season has been noted, these televised matches are becoming a bit of a pain. We already have a 12.15 kick off at Sutton in a few weeks, and now the Wrexham home game on 8th October has been switched to the same time, thus diluting the derby atmosphere and probably significantly reducing the attendance. Added to which, the game at Dagenham a week earlier has been switched to 5.30 pm, which means a very late arrival back on the Wirral for the travelling SWA.

It would not be so bad, but the sums we receive for these matches are apparently pitiful (between £1,000 and £5,000 per game). You would expect this kind of interference in the Greed League, but not at this level.

Is that really all we get?
Dreadful.
D&R won't be happy cos likely their fair weather fans will watch at home/pub and they'll be deprived of proportion of SWA income.
Potentially break even at best.

Thanks for pointing it out, RLC. These amounts make no sense financially. The Daggers charge a staggering £21 to away adult supporters, so if the SWA numbers are down from say 500 to 400, that's £2,100 lost in gate receipts and probably at least £2,500 in profit when teas, pies and programmes are factored in. And that's only the away fans. Televising a match usually only makes sense when the ground is full anyway. It might just make sense for the Wrexham game, as all the away tickets will likely be sold. However, you do wonder who makes these TV deals.

Personally find this frustrating, at a time when you need to be able to attend a number of away games to secure a ticket for in demand trips like Chester. Can see me doing a few Guiseley home games to be sure of getting to Nethermoor for Rovers potentially crucial game near the end of the season. Short of staying overnight, the Dagenham game becomes a no-no for me. Moving Wrexham makes more sense, perhaps reducing the risk of trouble and unlikely to dramatically reduce the attendance, though those travelling any distance may opt to stay and watch at home.

Agree with what's said above about economics. At least the clubs at a higher level get adequate recompense for fixtures being moved.

Probably not too bad a thing as most of our supporters that want a ticket won't be able to get one. As Chester are a decent side this season, it should be a good game.

At least Torquay away has not been moved to a Friday night.......

Chester match now brought forward to Friday night and still televised. Some cock-up by BT, but can't imagine Cheshire public and will be happy if the police try to keep their premises closed on Friday evening.
