Troy Deeney has been appointed Manager after Houseman was sacked. See what happens! Appointing a well known player as Manager, but who lacks experience in the role, could go either way.

It’s either brave or stupid as they tried the same with Duncan Ferguson and that didn’t work out

A flawed individual but one who does have leadership skills in his locker. In that sense a bit like Joey Barton - nowhere near as obnoxious, of course but, if Barton can make a fist of being a manager, I wouldn’t rule out Deeney. Especially with the financial backing he’ll get in January.

But I agree it could just as easily go south for them. Fingers crossed it does!

Forest Green drew 0 0 Colchester still lead and will be above us and level with Salford if they win.

FGR drawing at home is good for us.

Nevitt and Cook scoring again.

I've just watched Troy Deeney on Celebrity Mastermind. His specialist subject was the Spiderman films. He couldn't even manage to answer a single question, despite only having to watch three films. He was quite good on general knowledge and had a good sense of humour. He came third, as Dana also got nil points for her specialist subject, pop music 1969 to 1976. Even I got most of those questions right.

It was recorded in the summer before he became manager. When asked if he would like to be a manager one day, he said he was after his coaching badges first and would not get them before next year. Frankly, he didn’t seem to have the personality to be a football boss. He seemed a bit soft. However, a long time ago he was imprisoned for assault, so he can’t be that soft. He certainly has inner strength and determination, so maybe he might make it. But it’s a huge risk asking a complete rookie whose recent career was in the EPL and Championship to take over a team at the foot of the EFL. I’d wish him luck if it wasn’t FGR and we were not just above them.

Would have been preferable for Colchester and Salford to draw,, as we now must win to climb above the Us again.

Not sure whether FGR draw could be classed as new manager bounce

I actually thought FGR would beat Gillingham as we proved they are very beatable. Gillingham have also scored less goals than FGR this season, so adding that to the new manager bounce thing, I was content with the result. Gives us an opportunity to put more daylight between us today which would take the edge off any pleasure they may have derived from their point. Important to at least maintain the gap, so a draw wouldn’t be fatal today.

Can we assume that Vince has just lost interest or maybe does not have the cash to improve the squad? The price you pay I suppose if the Club is one man’s vanity project!

In some ways, I actually admire Dale Vince. He’s a bit of a fanatic but he has put a lot of money behind his club and his beliefs. I think he is genuinely trying to make the world a better place with his green policies. He is essentially a good man, unlike some owners who have asset stripped their clubs and left them to sink.

However, like most non-League clubs without any tradition and with a small fan base who rise into the League, they are almost doomed to return and fade away. I’m thinking Rushden & Diamonds, Maidstone United, Kidderminster and many others.

Have to agree, with the only caveat being some of those teams/places are nice places to go e.g. Kidderminster and Nailsworth are two I’ve enjoyed visiting with my youngest son and wouldn’t mind going again (more likely to be in cup games for the foreseeable after this season!).

Re Deeney it smacks a bit of Birminghams appointment of Rooney. A relatively big name with either little or nothing really positive in managerial experience. Young managers need to start somewhere of course but it is a risk. If FGR go down it’ll be interesting if Deeney stays
