It was a cracking match. We've had big scores before of course , not least 2022, but not against teams so good. This is actually the first time we've beaten a top 15 team at the World Cup since 2002, let alone the way we did it (should really have been 6 or 7) and it wasn't as though Croatia played particularly badly. Though this is England, so there will always be some fear from the fans that we'll revert to type, though along with a believe we can win it, only this time, the first game has perhaps, shown rather more justification for any belief than we've had, perhaps since 1982. Yes the Defence needs some work, though the fact there can be improvement has to be encouraging too, though ultimately, as long as you score more than your opponent, of course you'll always win, and I'd far, far, far prefer looking to kill games off than sitting back and trying to hold on to a 1 goal lead.I expected a dour game, so was surprised how the match turned out. A good start to the tournament four goals and three points can't be faulted, the defence needs working on as better teams than Croatia to come, later in the tournament but very pleased with the start.
