My first visit to the reserves for a couple of years. Our line-up featured a few with first team experience, Paul Brown being strangely absent. Didn't recognise any of the Wrexham names.
Off to a good start with a well-taken goal from outside the area by Chris Dagnall, a couple of minutes later and Calvin repeated the trick. Most of the rest of the half was Rovers possession involving lots of neat passing, but few attempts on goal. Then Wrexham scored twice in quick succession. One was a shot, which got trapped under his team-mates boot, wrong-footing the Rovers defence and he went onto score. The other was more worrying, involving defensive confusion and Steve Wilson coming for a cross the defence should have been left to handle. 2-2 at half-time, not a fair reflection of the half.
The 2nd half started much more quietly, though Steve Davies was getting much more involved and he scored the 3rd. The final well-worked goal involved an interchange of passes, the Wrexham defence cut open and Daggers finishing off.
Of the lads with first team experience, thought Dagnall played well and hope there's no truth in the suggestion he's asked for a transfer. Davies took a time to warm up, but was quality as the game wore on. Zola, despite his goal, doesn't look ready for 1st team action. Tremarco was steady & having seen Steve Wilson in action hope Johnny a stays fit. Of the others, Joe Fowler the most impressive(aren't the first team in neede of an attacking midfielder?), though creditable mentions to Oliver James & Michael Jones. However, someone to challenge for the right-back slot and decent crossers of the ball were thin on the ground tonight.
