    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Morcambe

Whatever, our finances are predictably loss making circa £1 million a year. Cup runs are the on thing that can change that outcome, Grimsby must now be up on the quarter, we wont be. The thing which really baffles we were resting players in the second match of the season up until recently, if I was Palios I would interfere!!
Andy chose to involve the rest of his squad. If not, they may not have had a game for weeks. I don’t think he knew his best team at that time, so he used the game to find out. It was a risk which probably cost us the game. But we should/could have won it anyway. It’s very difficult to keep the whole squad match fit and motivated, so this as probably in Andy’s mind.

I think Crosby does know his best side and the changes were purely to protect players from injury, which is always a risk so early in the season when players are not yet match fit and there are a number of games in quick succession.

If the owner interferes with team selection then it will end badly and the manager will almost certainly walk and currently our best asset is the manager
If we opt to not field our strongest and go out of cups, as we did, foregoing any chance of a windfall. We shouldn't complain if we have to sell a player?

That's 1 cup there are 2 others which in the case of the FA Cup is more lucrative and we have to make changes to our team and rotate players to try help prevent injuries

This is particularly relevant with a thin squad. We cannot afford more than the odd injury. Hope for one or two more signings including a striker before the window closes!

Not to mention if we get 50k tops all in for a round 2 game at home to Lincoln, we're before even going into all costs spending half of that on appearance fees for players alone. EFL Cup isn't one to be worth the pittance of prize money.

Associates is nothing until you get to the final and fa cup is but harder to get a big tie. Mansfield and Grimsby are in clover now. All outside chances but better bets than this endless takeover! Gone now

Do you think when MP said we are looking at first quarter, he meant first quarter of 2026!?

Wasn't referring to him, a cursory look at our accounts suggests we lose about a quarter of a mill every quarter. Grimsby and Mansfield are probably similar and won't have that problem over the next few weeks. Let's see if we keep the squad over the next few days!

Not even sure players get appearance fees but I doubt they cost £25k a match as gross player costs aren't much more than that! Players tend to get a salary and win bonuses.

Players get a salary and a signing on fee......
the last time I heard, bonuses are only paid when team is in top six. It may have changed.
I think they get a small bonus if they win in a cup game.
I remember a coach saying to me, that winning in a cup game should be enough especially if it gets to play on a bigger stage.
