    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Morcambe

Drwhoman, I think you could equally make the argument that someone else taking over the club at the same time and on the same terms with the Ingleborough money could have done a whole lot better.
Absolutely.

The club absolutely is a viable proposition with significant potential if effectively run.

Morecambe’s new owners say they want stability yet start by sacking Derek Adam’s?! Feels a bit of a strange move.

As well as sacking Adams who has an affinity with Morecambe, the new owners are rumoured to be giving the managers job to 30 year old Ashvir Singh Johal who has coached in England before but never managed a senior first team. Will be interesting how that goes.

Confirmed as manager, big job for your first managerial job.

Hindsight is a glorious thing! You might have been right. Who knows. I am not sure there were too many people queuing up at the time and I recall that most people were happy that someone was willing to give it a go as Johnson clearly wanted out. Anyway, all history now! As for the Club being a viable proposition I am not so sure but you are far closer to it than me RLC. I suspect that we are not the only Club that has the issue given the ever increasing concentration of money and fans at the top level. Thankfully JT looks to be out of the picture but we still need a viable alternative.

Paul Lewis and Ben Tollit both start for Morecambes first game of the season

Tollitt had not been paid for about three months! A good win considering Morecambe signed 12 players in the week before the game having only had 5 players last Monday!

I am made up for them, dont wana see any teams go out of business. Was talking to Jimmy Harvey about it the other day and as he said the owner has been Bankrupt 3 times so you have to ask the question how can you be allowed to run a football club withthe supposedly fit and proper tests

There is a report on BBC Sport about the game against Altrincham. 3700 there - so pleased the Club has been saved! Ben was one of the five contracted players last Monday and had not been paid for ten weeks! 2-1 win with the winner after eight minutes of injury time by a guy signed in the week!

Back down to earth with a bump 4 0 down at Aldershot

Off-topic, but Grimsby beat United 12-11 on penalties.

A Herculean effort.

Indeed it was. Two up with just 15 minutes to play, they let United draw level. They held their nerve when an early penalty was missed and once on level terms every Grimsby player scored. At 12-11, big money signing Mbueno missed. What a night for them, although the gate was disappointing.

Makes this weakened side tactic in round one all the more puzzling. If we had played Lincoln be another 50k in the pot. Grimsby got TV money as well.
Makes better strategy than cashing in on Patrick?

It was actually a full house. There is a limited capacity at Blundell Park these days.

Burton changed 10 players and had a number of academy players with virtually no experience playing, we still should have been good enough to have won.

Not sure where you get the figure of 50k from as would have been a low crowd.

Whatever, our finances are predictably loss making circa £1 million a year. Cup runs are the on thing that can change that outcome, Grimsby must now be up on the quarter, we wont be. The thing which really baffles we were resting players in the second match of the season up until recently, if I was Palios I would interfere!!

If the owner interferes with team selection then it will end badly and the manager will almost certainly walk and currently our best asset is the manager
