Sad to hear of the passing of Big Jack this morning. One of the game's real characters and another of the elite band of English World Cup winners to leave us. I don't remember the World Cup win but do remember the tail end of his Leeds United career. Apart from being a World Cup winner he was a one club man and played a stupendous amount of games for Leeds before moving into management. He had club success at Boro and Sheff Wed and then became an honorary Irishman. His achievements in 2 World Cups and a Euros with the Irish national team were remarkable really; for years they had talented players but it took Jack to gel them into an international force. They certainly don't make them in Jack's mould any more; humble, down to earth, called a spade a spade yet charismatic and engaging. Amongst all the memorable moments the one that had me rolling about was not long after he took over the Irish national team and, when running through his players, noted "Ian Brady" in midfield! Hilarious! What a legend - RIP Jack.
