Rovers are in action on Tuesday night as they travel to Blundell Park to take on Grimsby. Assuming Crosby is still around this will be his second game in charge after the encouraging display on Saturday.

Grimsby are no pushovers however. Their form has been excellent recently with four wins out of five, they are in 8th position in the league, four points off the play offs. Recent results include a 1-1 draw at Cheltenham and three successive 2-1 wins against Fleetwood, Doncaster and Carlisle.

Denver Hume leads the assists with 10 so will be a danger down the left. Danny Rose is the danger man up front with 10 goals and 2 assists.

It's early days with Crosby in charge so difficult to know what team he will pick on Tuesday night but we just have to hope the lads put in the same level of desire and commitment we saw on Saturday and hope we can come away with some points. A difficult task but we have to start picking up points on our travels.

That was quite a revealing post-match interview with Andy Crosby. We found out a lot about Nigel’s thinking and it alluded to some of the tensions between the two men, particularly over Hawkes.

It’s got to the stage now where I’d be happy/relieved with a point to end our bad away run, although we now need to start winning a few games. I’d settle for a draw on Tuesday and a win on Saturday. Am I being too greedy? ;)

If we do win at Grimsby, Andy will be something if a hero.

On the basis that the vote is based on prayers rather than predictions I'm the one who has gone for an away win. Having said that, It is a poor league with teams moving up and down based on good runs/bad runs so I'm not overly fazed by the Mariners league position.

Saturday was encouraging but we need more goals and more points. Hopefully that starts on Tuesday. Artell has done a decent job with the mariners and as Ian points out they have goals in poacher Danny Rose.

It Turnbull isn’t fit then with Wood suspended, Davies will come back in. The problem then is if u play LOC as left of the 3, and Norman on the right then who plays right wing back. Alternatively you play Bradshaw as left CB or even the united loanee.

Further forward I can’t see any changes unless injuries. Hopefully Hendry and Hawkes are available to start again.

A draw would be a decent result ahead of Bromley at PP on the Saturday.

I certainly hope it's not deja vu, after what happened the last time we had a decent performance at home, then got smashed at Walsall.
I also don't want the recurrence of the hand of cod either.
A draw will p!ease me. Any points will be a bonus.
And hope we are still in a position to get a win against Bromley to pull away.

With Wood definitely missing and possibly Turnbull, then options are drying up at the back, particularly as it's been suggested elsewhere that Bradshaw's absence from the squad is down to personal reasons. I don't think Grimsby are quite as big a side as Port Vale, so their threat is less physical.

Just as important is the left wing-back situation. In an away game the defensive side of the role is likely to prove the more significant. Patrick is clearly not the option, so others need to be tried there. Morris' return seems to have been delayed or he would be an option. Garrett or Merrie perhaps?

I would also expect a similar attack to Saturday.

I have read another couple of interesting statistics regarding Adkins' tenure.

We have taken 111 corners without scoring a goal.

We have scored two goals from set pieces in the last calendar year.

When you consider the proportion of goals that are scored from set pieces at this level, that is disgraceful. What the hell did Adkins do all day ?

It really beggars belief that along all with the other stats. Statistically he should have been sacked before many of other Palios sackings whereas instead, he got longer than many of the others.
I just worry it’s too late as Carlisle may now start to get results.
Ultimately that will be the fault of Palios for keeping his mate on far too long

Yes if we get relegated it's squarly on Palios for failing to act soon enough

Another stiff test but another chance to build on encouraging signs…..though I’ve lost count of how many times those hopes have been dashed this season!

I agree with others that a point would be good, and possibly significant too if it finally gets us out of our away rut. So I’ll be particularly interested to see how Crosby approaches it and sets us up.

Blind faith maybe, but I’ll have a punt at 1-1.

Terrible stats, but does the responsibility reside solely with the Manager ?

Yes he sets the team tells the coaches what he wants and all that. Its like being a chef i tell the cooks what i want and how its presented and prepared if they fail to do it they don't have a job its brutal but that's the way it is

That's an interesting point and I suppose depends to an extent whether the taker of the set pieces is pre-determined or the manager delegates the question of who takes them to the players. Of those on set-piece duty this season, Sol Solomon was arguably the best and Finley the worst. but I don't think we've anyone at present who's that good. Think Garrett and Hawkes are the pair most likely to score from a direct free-kick.

You are assuming that the chef/manager has the discretion to hire or fire , is/was that the case at rovers ?
