    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

League Two Cambridge (4) V Rovers (2)

If Crosby was deploying McGowan left side of a back three after the horror of Walsall then he has serious learning difficulties
Indeed, he started Smith and tamen wrong way around again. Switched after 20 which is crazy it was blatant a week ago. Young lad looks ok given a job to do he understands.
McG was forced into his hospital pass role again, why not use Patrick and then sub him later.
Jones was also lost except us goal which Whits wouldn't have scored but Whits is better overall.
Competitive defeat not all bad. JJ will be out i guess

Crosby very critical of the defence. Not just stopping crosses but basic marking.
The difficulty is that LOC and Turnbull won’t be back anytime soon.

Sounds like Bristow was just dropped. Strange to not have him on the bench at least.

More questionable judgement from Crosby then. Bristow not brilliant last week, but didn’t make any major errors and put in a couple of decent crosses going forward.

Crosby is out of his depth, we’re a shambles, playing a ludicrously overly complicated system with sub-par players (that he has gone on the record praising the signing of, so he can’t start making excuses that they weren’t his picks). His nonsense about needing signings to replace his signings from 6 months ago, is a sackable offence alone.

There’s a real danger whoever is planning to take over decides to hold off until it’s clear what league we are in, it’s what I would do - especially if it might shave a few million off the price. That might force Palios to do something - not that I want him anywhere near such a decision, but we’re in real danger of utter paralysis and falling out the league.

Crosby must realise this will be his last chance to be a manager of a decent sized club, surely he will change approach. They are crying out for a bog standard 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. His Adkin’s esque stubbornness is increasingly infuriating. He might talk well, but that doesn’t make him a manager!

Apparently we’re the only team in the top 4 divisions to have scored in every away game this season.

Yes, that decision makes no sense at all, particularly as it left us with McGowan at left centre back when Joseph went off.

Unfortunately, that statistic counts for little when you concede at the rate we are.

We are now regularly shipping three or four goals, even against crap opposition like Barrow, not just the top sides. It is unsustainable and we will be on a downward spiral unless it is addressed.

I would prefer 4 in defence but last time he tried that (Barrow?) I think we were even worse! At the end of the day, there can only be small gains made by changing formation with these players. They clearly aren’t good enough although I’m sure Crosby has tried his best with a limited budget. Having to play a 44 year old goalkeeper is a clear sign of what he’s having to deal with. It’s also worth mentioning that there were plenty on this message board who were quite positive about the summer signings. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! I don’t think we’ll go down but can see things getting worse before they get better. The best thing we can do is get behind the team and try and help them secure safety. Another poor season but hoping for better times ahead. Disappointing but at the end of the day, it’s just a game.

Indeed although I don’t think one bad game against Barrow means it shouldn’t be tried again. We’ve had plenty of terrible games with the 3/5 at the back yet he persists with it.

I’m baffled that the first signing of January wasn’t a goalkeeper, feels increasingly like nobody has been lined up!

We are in absolute freefall having lost 6 out of last 8 games and are conceding goals at an alarming rate. Crosby doesn't know how to address our defencies and if we are not careful we will be dragged into another relegation scrap.

We really could do with something out of the Barnet game as I can only see a comfortable defeat by Salford

I agree it should be tried again. The current system is definitely not working from a defensive perspective.

Not to repeat myself, but I have been clamouring and posting about the lack of defensive attributes of the system we use. The shape, the wide open spaces between the lines and behind the wing backs. Not a lot of attacking shape and the distinct lack of seeing games out when ahead, never mind the subs, the constant tinkering and nonsensical tactics.
I do believe that without those away results, the looming drop into relegation would be realised.
I think that the head coach is oblivious to the obvious deficiencies in the squad and the system.

The worry for me is Crosby just doesn’t have an answer. You can see in the interviews, he doesn’t know what to say and week by week nothing changes.
