- Ian Goodison... who else!
A trip to Essex for the Super Whites this weekend. On paper the easiest of our three opening matches with Woking and Gateshead being considered amongst the better teams in the league and Braintree without a win in their opening two games.
As ever with the Rovers, expect the unexpected. Hat-trick from the goalie and one from the ball boy? Who knows?
Would love us to get a win and develop an air of invincibility, it would be nice to have teams fearing us for a change. Keen to see some of the new signings getting on the score sheet too.
After a start to the season that most of us thought unlikely, can we win our third game in a row? Woking and Gateshead were good sides and won their other game this past week. Meanwhile, Braintree are at the bottom of the league with no points. However, they reached the play-offs last season and I expect they will be tough opponents. I don't expect GB to make any team changes, as Liam is expected to be fit, but I am cautiously predicting a 1-1 draw. For the third time this month, I hope I'm being pessimistic. Unfortunately, I won't be there because of family commitments, but I'm sure I won't be missed as I anticipate we'll take at least 500 fans.
On paper its an away win for sure!! But given their efforts last season Braintree will surely kick on at some point so we can't take this lightly and I don't think GB will.
Hopefully we can name an unchanged side and a striker will get on the score sheet.
I'm going for a 1-0 win with Cole opening his account for the season.
I think it was the season before Braintree made the play-offs, they finished mid-table last season. The first question must be is there any risk of the weather preventing this game going on? It has been rather damp in the SE and Rovers have had a game postponed at Braintree before. Obviously, given our good start, I'd hope the game goes on. It seems Ridehalgh and Norwood are both fit enough to be in contention, so I'd hope for Liam in an unchanged starting xi, with Norwood getting a chance off the bench. BBTCs suggestion of a 1- draw feels about right.
We'll hammer them 3-0!
Think be quite close 2 1 to us
While I would not take any opposition lightly, and we are still finding our feet at this level, there are some curiously negative predictions up above. Braintree punched above their weight under Alan Devonshire (although I don't believe they ever reached the play-offs ?), but he has now departed and they are likely relegation candidates this season, certainly the kind of side we have to beat away from home if we want promotion. As Boz points out, their pitch is prone to flooding but the game does not seem to be in doubt at present.
I would play the same team as Tuesday in a 4-4-2 and I think the outcome will largely depend on the attitude of our own players. If we turn up, particularly in midfield, I think we will win the game.
Braintree are expecting up to 700 Rovers fans, so it should be a great atmosphere again.
I'd agree. If our midfield are on form, we should control this comfortably. At the moment it seems everyone is keen to get on the score sheet, so let's hope for a couple more tomorrow.
Would only settle for a win - even a scrappy one, although have felt optimistic from the start of the season - so going for a 2-0 win for SWA. Was going to say same side apart from Margetts or Norwood in for Cole (not a fan), but given some positive reports from Gateshead we should run with it for another week.
This is not the last two seasons with a majority of losers in the team. I expect a win. it is Braintree!!!!

I'm a little surprised Margetts hasn't had any match time although it's early days. I would expect Stockton to start this one.Would only settle for a win - even a scrappy one, although have felt optimistic from the start of the season - so going for a 2-0 win for SWA.
