McGee with a great save to keep us level right on half time

Accrington definitely on top for me. After the Rovers goal, Hendry brought a decent save out of their keeper but that’s about it. Apter not seeing enough of the ball and Saunders barely touching it. O’Connor’s done some sterling work on the right, but needs a bit more protection from midfield. Luke Norris seemed to pick up a bad knock at the end of the half so maybe enforced substitution.

penalty for handball by apter:

Harsh in my view as he has to jump and use his arms plus he was fairly close to their lad.

2-1 to the hosts

Sam Taylor on for Apter . Hopefully scouts have been watching young Robbie as he’s been overall bang average today.

More hapless defending. Merrie dwells on the ball and bundles their lad over for a penalty.

4-1

That was a really poor second half. Luke Norris subdued after his knock at the end of the first half and Dennis was awful, replacing Saunders who was merely ineffective. Sam Taylor showed a few promising touches but none of the other subs made any difference. There was such a lack of fight from the players after the break. Shame couldn’t say the same of the SWA as there was a scuffle breaking out and someone escorted out by security.
15 years since I last saw Rovers win away. Think might just buy a season ticket for Emley next season and give up hoping (already got my Rovers s/t). While I don’t blame him for todays mediocrity we’ve lost all three games this referee has been in the middle this season.

Didn't go as divided loyalties to some extent as my mate is the Accies manager. That was a strong side they put out compared to the time when Coleman got the bullet and they were relying on accademy players.
Tbf i don't think many Rovers players playing today would have made a combined eleven.....and it showed. Having said that I thought they (AS) were to often first to second balls and there's no excuse for lack of desire on our part.
Accy always seem to well with loan player recruitment with good connections at Norwhich and QPR. Also they're on about their fourth keeper due to injuries, but always touch lucky in terms of replacements. Les Parry sorted out the move for the current keeper from Man Utd.
We need a good clear out. A few of the lads I've shown patience with eg Merrie and McAleer aren't good enough. Yet they bring a midfielder in Pritchard on as sub, who has so much more to offer in terms of nous and desire. Puts into perspective the quality of our fringe players.
Looking forward to a lively summer window.
