Not that he would cut off his own nose to spite his face, but you do wonder if Palios does regret the change in policy. We were very close to the play offs the season before. We’re going to finish miles off them this time round. Will we get any closer next season?

The change may likely have been impacted by budgets so we may have had no other choice but to change policy, but if it wasn’t down to money then it’s been a real cock up, certainly in terms of results
The player development strategy is a business model, so absolutely down to money.

The ITK poster on the other site says surprised at the name they’ve heard but it ticks the Tranmere connection box.

Mark comes across as very stubborn and set in his ways I have spoken to him and you can tell he is the type of person you would not want to cross if you upset him. You can see it when he has the Q A sessions so imagine working for him

Guys who have been as successful as Mark are never a soft touch! Looking forward to the new Manager with great interest. Hope they are not underwhelming! All we could get because of the money etc!

The ITK further said when asked if we would be impressed...

"Honestly....no, I would be very underwhelmed
I haven't posted it as I think there would be a meltdown tbh and I just cannot see it happening so I am hoping people have put 2 and 2 together and got 5"

Maybe Vaughan coming back?

If it was Vaughan it would be bizarre given that the recruitment last summer was of 'variable' quality to put it mildly.

I assume Neil Critchley would be aiming too high? Sacked with Gerrard then failed at QPR.

Matt Gill is one name doing the rounds. Assistant coach at Swansea.

I would not object provided he brings his own coaching staff, preferably an assistant with a bit of experience.

Knowing Palios Dawes and Parkinson will still be involved

Nor would I; although it would take a bedding in period to disassociate him from the trauma of 2014.

That would be ridiculous if it happened.

Gill would need someone alongside him he could trust, and would probably feel undermined by the presence of Dawes.

If the quality of the playing squad does not improve, it will be a tough gig for any manager next season.

I agree but doubt that they leave

I’ve heard Matt Gill is a front runner. Has the rovers connection as finished his career with us and was assistant to Rob Edwards albeit that didn’t end well
