It was a decent point for Rovers. Got quite nervy in the closing minutes as we were defending deep and unable to keep possession, but Rovers hung on. Good backing from the SWA again.

As well as the trio of O’Connor Finley and Woolery mentioned, I thought Jayden Joseph put in a decent performance and seemed to be involved in a lot of our better attacking play.

If Rovers can follow it up with a result against the form team from Brizzle it could amount to a turning point. If on the other hand that game is a re-run of other recent home games, it will amount to just a false dawn. Watch this space…

It feels like this could be a big result with the bottom two both losing and the gap opening to 4 points, as we now need to drop points at least twice for them to have any chance of overtaking us. I am certainly not counting chickens yet though!

A really good performance away to a team rightly challenging for a playoff place. It was great that despite missing a couple of really good chances, including the poorly taken penalty, and conceding late in the first half, the heads didn't fall and the belief in their ability to press for an equaliser remained. That starting 11 must, injuries permitting, start at home next Saturday as they were light years better, in terms of ability and commitment and than any other lineup we've put out this season.

Hopefully we get extended highlights later.

Poor set of “highlights” omitting the Woolery miss. Good pinpoint ball from Brough well finished by Finley for the equaliser.
Brough is capable of a decent delivery on occasions, Jones' goal at Cambridge being another example. He had a good game today, up against their best player

The first complete performance under Wild.

It was Kaiyne Woolery who made the difference. Not only did he threaten the Chesterfield defence with his intelligent movement and pace in behind, he also held the ball up and linked the play in a manner that Ironside never can. As the opposition defenders were afraid of his pace they could not squeeze up, which allowed Patrick and Obiero to pick the ball up in the pockets and begin attacking moves. It was the perfect performance from a lone striker, marred only by his miss in the first ten minutes, and the first occasion that Wilde's counter attacking style has really looked effective.

The players returning from injury also made a significant difference. Tamen and Joseph were excellent, and Lee O'Connor led by example as always.

As has been commented, we missed numerous chances in the first half. However, even after the break I thought we were the better and more threatening side, probing and asking questions of Chesterfield. Defensively we were very solid, and relatively untroubled other than the goal we conceded.

The backing from the travelling SWA was magnificent throughout, even at one down.

Man of the match Kaiyne Woolery.

There is still a lot of work to be done. However, after Monday's defeat I thought we were doomed, whereas there is now genuine hope.

Just got home been in the kichen since 730 as always no breaks just right through al my other staff got 20 mins relief glad we got the point shame we missed the penalty but ots better we thought it would be

Just my luck, the day I decide to go to the pub, instead of following Rovers closely., the put on the best performance for months, by what I seen on the highlights Rovers should have won it and instead of on point,it could have easily have been three, a bad miss by Woolery and the penalty save. So glad for those that kept the faith and traveled to Chesterfield that they finally had something to cheer about. Before the game I would have bitten the hand off for a point so got to be happy with it. On to Tuesdays Barrow game and then next Saturday's game against Bristol Rovers. We are certainly not out of the wood yet but at least we have hope again. I now have a dilemma, should I stay at home, and closely follow the game or should I go to the pub and suffer agony as I sit in front of the TV watching the scores flash up. I wish my sight was better and I could still drive up and watch the Bristol match..

Thanks Ian! The away end at Chesterfield doesn’t allow the best vision of the action at the opposite end of the park, particularly if you stay sat, so helpful to get a better view of the Woolery miss and the incident that led to the Rovers penalty.

Looking at the Chesterfield goal again, while the ball into the box was well-flighted in for the header, the scorer comes almost exactly between two Rovers players, neither of whom do anything to put him off. We should be making it harder for Naylor to score there.

At leat you had a goal to celebrate, but that was a shocker from Patrick, he is definitely got his head away from the club its quite obvious that,

Got to hope Chesterfield pick up a win tomorrow night v Grimsby. We don’t want a situation whereby the mariners go into their last game of the season with something to play for.

We need a favour from Micky tomorrow night or the pressure will be on big time
