Nice to see Ryan fit again and a regular in the Premier League. Just a pity that it's at Newcastle who are fighting relegation after failing to make it as a regular at Wigan (albeit he struggled with injuries there). Think if he's given a regular run in a top flight team, he could challenge for international honours.

Think he has spotted that opoortunity too by saying he wants to play right back. Right back is currently an area where nobody in the England side seems to have held down a place. It's currently Glen Johnson, and there's also Wes Brown but not much else.

Check out this interview with him in the Toon press: http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc...ight-back-berth-for-newcastle-72703-23221027/

Saw a match report of the Arsenal game, which didn't give a favourable account of Ryan's performance. It may be that he's out of practice playing in that position after his Wigan experience.

Micah Richards is the other contender for right-back, one of the few successes of the McLaren era, but Capello doesn't seem to like him for some reason.

To my knowledge he's been playing on the right wing so far, duff on the left.
