Well what does everyone think?

Good move in my opinion we need some stability when it comes to the manager. Hopefully the players considering offers will want to stay now to.

A good striker and someone to score goals from midfield is all we're missing i reckon...oh yeah and a right back!!

Gutted like Luke and for pretty much the same reasons. No wonder no ones buying season tickets. I won't be while Ronald McHoofball is in charge. ](*,)

I'm with you, Lone Rover. Ronnie not the best manager we've had, but realistically we probably can't afford anyone better. At least he has a settled squad and hopefully there will be a little money to spend. Maybe what we get for Davies and Zola will help, although I wouldn't be surprised if it just goes into the pot to help with last season's losses.

At least someone knows were i am coming from!!If the club want to move forward why take one step back with someone that has improved the teams league standing the wrong why!!So what if shuker and davies were out for a large part off the season but he cant just blame that at the end of the day he had the transfer window to bring in a winger or a winger on that is right not left playing the right but myrie-williams goal vs leeds was great.I would of liked us to bring in Martin Allen or Peter Reid!!

Another 2 seasons of hoof ball, no young players and league 1 football awaits.

I personally think we should have let him go and found a better man for the job, I agree that stability breeds success - but first we've got to the find the right manager to breed that success with and for me Ronnie Moore isn't the man.

Hopefully i'm wrong and we'll storm to the championship with a record point's total! but unfortuantely I don't think i am - the top half might be considered an achievement next season...

I'm quite happy with the decision and was confident Ronnie would be given another few years to prove himself.

Like I've said before, these things take time, he's still building the squad and he needs more time. The next two years will be crucial for him.

Why do people assume a better man would replace Ronnie? We can't attract world class managers, so why/how could we get a better man in?

Ronnie needs to bring in a few more players and adjust his style of play a little. He's made mistakes over the two years, he's admitted that and his tactics have been naive at times.

Give the guy a chance, 2 years isn't enough time.
His next two years however will be crucial.

I think a better man could replace Moore, because you can't get much worse! With the squad of players avaliable to him we massively underachieved last season. I've said it before - he's good at finding/signing good players but thats it.

Although I wouldn't want someone like Martin Allen which has been previously mentioned. There isn't going to be a new manager for a while now, so although some of us like Moore and other don't - lets see what next season brings.

You could have got worse. A lot worse. We've had worse! We remained in the top ten for most of the season. Relegation would have been much worse.

I couldn't agree more Ian. Every year we get all the usual comments about bringing someone new in and that doesn't work. I, for one am happy with them renewing Ronnie's contract. It will give us stability.

If we had got someone new in, they clear out and bring their own favourites in and we're up in the air again for another season, and I bet we'd be here this time next year having the same conversation.

I'm obviously not too happy about losing Davo but I think it was inevitable.

Let's just see what happens over the newxt couple of months. I'm looking forward to it already.

Has everyone forgotten Brian Little already? The last 2 seasons have been a walk in the park compared to that nonce!

Have to say I'm fairly indifferent to the news. Yeah we could have been relegated, we could also with some more astute management made the play-offs. Also, it's not just about our league position, but the future of the club. There's not a shred of evidence from any of Ronnie's comments that he's going to make any more use of the youth players at the club, doubtless Sherriff will be playing in central midfield or right-back if he signs on again, to keep Henry and Holmes out of the team.

Has Ronnie's team set the division alight and won promotion. No. But that doesn't mean he's a bad manager as some of the kids posting here seem to think. He's put together an extremely competitive team, was unfortunate with injuries to key players and yet was in the race for the play offs until close to the end. Being competitive with less than no money to spend is a massive achievement and I think that marks him out as a very good manager.

He's miles better than Little or Watson. Simply mentioning those names makes me lower my head in shame, while Ronnie Moore gives me cause to hold my head up high and be proud of being a Tranmere fan.

He's got tough choices to make when it comes to the youth lads, he's got to protect and nuture their development in their interests, he's got to keep in mind the first team has to be competitive on the day against experienced players and he's got to keep senior professional players happy so they perform. He has to look realistically at players that hit a certain age and haven't made it yet and say well they didn't make it at 18,19 or 20 and now he's got another 18 year old coming along, but can't afford to pay the wage bill of both. Money talks and the 18 year old from the youth is cheaper than a 20 year old on his third or fourth 1 year deal. Sometimes being released is the best thing that can happen to a young player as they can move to another club and establish themself there.

I'll pin my colours to the mast here and say that I wanted Ronnie to keep Mike Jones on. I really think he's the kind of young player we need coming into the team, tenacious and forward looking, creative. Pat Nevin didn't play until he'd finished university at 22 and went on to have an extremely long and successful career, including playing at international level. While I'm not saying Jones is the next Nevin, we'll never know now. While I think Jones should have been given another contract I do understand that the money simply is not there.

On Jones, the area that I'd be critical of Ronnie was a failure to give him a run out when Shukes was out injured. The fact that he preferred to play JMW, a loanee, out of position on the right-wing and sacred cow Sherriff on the left meant the lad never got a fair crack of the whip to show if he was any good or not.

Can't see much difference between Little and Moore to be honest. Even though both had a phobia about giving youngsters a chance, Little gave 4 debuts to home products by my reckoning (Tremarco, Linwood Brown and Davies), whereas Moore has to date only blooded two. We should be looking to the example set by Stockport, where a team with significant home-grown talent will be one of our opponents next season.

I think stability is very important for the club. We've chopped and changed managers too much. Ronnie has brought in some good signings while he has been here. If he can add a couple more and convince some of our better ones to stay we should have a decent squad next season to have a crack at getting in the play offs again.

I agree, I think some people are a little bit too harsh on Little to be honest. Yes his tactics were negative and he played our best player out of position. But look where he got us - 3rd. He got us to within a few kicks of a play off final and potentially 90 minutes from the championship. Our best season at this level since we were relagated.

He also has a better track record than Moore - 2 promotions with Darlington, 1 with Leicester and a league cup with Aston Villa.

Under his managemant players such as Ryan Taylor and Hume excelled and eventually left for reasonble fees. The almost relegation season was obviously his downfall he paid for not replacing key players - but he kept us up whilst our play off opponents Hartlepool were relegated (although admittedly we shouldn't have been in the situation in the first place)

I am by no means a Little fan, he was far too negative in my opinion but I think he deserves a little bit more respect than what he gets from fans.

Wherever Little goes, he always has a decent first season, and then things turn sour. Maybe with the exception being Wrexham who were doomed anyways.. I don't know what he does or how he does it, but it's a fact. I also felt confidence within the squad was drained by the week with Little. That may have been due to his negativity and lifeless persona.

Ronnie although having the 'hoof' tag placed around his neck seems a lot more positive and 'tuned in' than other managers we've had. He seems to have a sense of direction. He hasn't changed the club around as quick as some supporters would have liked him to (unrealistically IMO) but he is improving by the season.

These next two years will be crucial for him. If we are still stuck in the same position or worse (god forbid!) in 2 years time, then it might be fair to say he's not the manager to take us forward. Judge him then..

I think some of you will remember some Oldham fans saying when Ronnie came first that he would have a good first season then fall apart and start blaming individual players for his shortcomings!!

Well I don't think that's happened and I think next season will again be a gradual improvement. Just think where we could have ended up if not for some bad injuries this season at critical times. We did well, had a couple of decent unbeaten runs during the year, and overall weren't as disappointing as people are making them out to be.

And, I'm sorry but there are no comparisons between Ronnie & Brian Little, personal or professional.

It's all a matter of opinion. Perhaps I'm putting to much on the fact that Ronnie played for Rovers and had a son who came up through the ranks here, so be expected to develop a team with a strong local spine instead of opting for Australians who play all over the park, but nowhere well. Ray Mathias was the last decent manager we had here imo. If only Loz had shown the same degree of patience with him as she has with Ronnie.

If we do not sign anyone we will be relegated
