I still think we should play hardball and refuse to sell him to Rotherham before the window shuts. If Ian is a good pro, he'll stick at it and either he'll have signed a new deal or will be in a position to make a pre-contract agreement with another club come January. Of course this might leave us with a sulking player on our books if he is a Daddy's spoilt brat...

One major reason we have this problem is because Ronnie Moore has been talking to his son about joining Rotherham. Strictly speaking this is illegal and very unprofessional on Ronnie's part. He may understandably have an axe to grind (he should never have been sacked) but this is not the way to go about getting his own back. Les makes this point on the club website - they are trying to be nice because of the family relationship but if it were not for that Rotherham would be reported to the League for an illegal approach to a player.
