I see that Crawley have sacked Etherington, their Manager, after 32 days in charge! The previous one lasted four months. Demanding owners to say the least!

A total farce, didn't the owners make their money from crypto currency, can't see it ending well for the club.

Yes, they got lucky with some crypto investment.
Their ambition is to take Crawley to the Premier League. Sacking a manager after 3 games if probably not the way to do it.

These are the same jokers who previously tried to buy Bradford City, when one of them referred to their business model as “a bunch of unconventional stuff”, before concluding that there’s not much downside if it doesn't work!!

Bradford’s owner (and fans) sussed them immediately. Crawley’s fans did too but, unfortunately, their previous owners didn’t (or didn’t care).

Crawley’s forum is worth a look every now and then as the ownership has been quite a circus, with fears it’ll only get worse.

You wonder what their true objectives are?!

I think they genuinely do believe there’s an opportunity to significantly grow a club like Crawley on the back of generating new ‘fans’ around the world, particularly crypto buffs, via the internet and other social platforms. And there probably is some kind of opportunity to tap into and monetise that market - but, although a few other clubs are dabbling in it to some small degree or other, Crawley seem to have all their eggs in that basket.

But, even though the owners themselves appear to have done well (so far..) out of crypto, pinning the club’s future on that has got to be ultra high risk. Even more so when it’s clear they don’t have much clue about running a football club or the football industry itself.

So I‘m inclined to file them under ‘innovative and experimental’, probably ‘a bit deluded’ too, but not ‘asset strippers and cowboys’…for the time being anyway! Even though they’ve made the club a laughing stock and on course for relegation, hopefully they won’t end up jeopardising the club’s very existence.

Slightly off topic but Rochdale are in financial trouble, they are expecting to post losses of 1.2m this season so have issued more shares and if all are sold will generate just over 1m

It is no surprise that clubs in trouble are often from Lancashire. Not too much leveling up going on and inflation is higher than the national average. 13% in Burnley I was reading the other day.
