I don't recall making the first of those two statements, if it is me you are referring to. Interestingly, we have only managed to beat a 'de-motivated' team (Swindon) under Dawes.I vaguely remember somebody saying there’s no easy run as teams will be fighting for their lives, now they’re described as “crap” or “de-motivated”; I’m confused; can we have it both ways….seems so if it fits the narrative.
Dawes has been part of the coaching set up under three sacked managers and should also be held accountable for his performance. He should not be 'cut any more slack' than anybody else. Or perhaps that does not suit your narrative ? He should leave in the summer.
I don't accept that Mellon under-performed relative to the resources at his disposal. Football certainly is ruthless, but managers are often sacked simply to assuage supporters in the short term or to deflect criticism from an owner, rather than for justifiable reasons (cf. Darryl Clarke today).
