A very professional display and a deserved three points.
We could not get our passing game going in the first half and Orient looked a reasonable side in possession. However, they lacked confidence and quality in the final third and we defended very solidly to keep them at arm's length.
As Sparky says above, the substitutions and tactical changes were key to the victory. Morris gave us more composure in the centre of midfield and we were in complete control for the first thirty minutes of the second half and deservedly extended our lead. Similarly, when Orient pulled a goal back the switch to 532 snuffed out their attacking threat and we managed the game very well in the closing stages, with Nugent holding the ball in the opposition third very effectively. I was disappointed we did not keep a clean sheet but I thought the free kick which led to the goal should not have been given, and it was a great delivery from their player.
Individually, I thought the defensive players really shone today and the two centre halves and Spearing were contenders for man of the match. O'Connor had an up and down game against their tricky wide players, who were noticeably a lot quieter when they faced MacDonald. Lewis put in a decent shift in midfield.
Vaughan was holding his knee when he went off and I just hope it is a knock / bruising, rather than ligament damage or something equally serious.
Only two points off top spot and everything to play for.
