The Squad for 2018/19

I am starting this a bit early, but only because this is already being discussed on another thread.

Here is my understanding of whose contract is up in June:

Scott Davies, Luke Pilling, Partick Wharton, Steve McNulty, Eddie Clarke, Jay McEveley, Jay Harris, Jake Kirby, Jeff Hughes, James Wallace, Mitch Duggan, Jack Dunn, Elliot Rokka, Devarn Green, Darnell Cole, Drissa Traore, Andy Cook, Connor Jennings and Andy Mangan.

The following are tied up for another year:

Evan Gumbs, Liam Ridehalgh, Richie Sutton, Adam Buxton, Ben Tollitt, Oliver Norburn, James Norwood, George Waring and James Alabi.

I would imagine most of the first list have already been approached for an extension but have either decided to leave (like Hughes) or are waiting for better terms or to find out which league we are in next year. As far as I know, only Evan Gumbs has extended his contract during the season.

Carlisle v Rovers

Rovers next trip is to take on The Cumbrians at Brunton Park. Carlisle have been improving this season after a rather sluggish start which saw two losses and a draw from their first three games.

They did turn the corner after their excellent away win against Cheltenham with Richie Bennett getting the only goal of the game.
Their form has been excellent since, winning five of their last six games.

Carlisle will be coming off the back of a 2-1 victory against Cambridge and will want to continue their good form on home soil.
Rovers will of course be looking to crash the party. Will MM stick with the same XI that struggled at times against Colchester?

Lord Norwood

Cant wait for the transfer window to shut . We need to get the man the best contract we can and tie him down . He has scored 5 in his last 2 / 11 in 11 . And 53 in 108 games thats bloody great when you considered he missed so meney one on ones last season. Love the noors . And he quite loves us to get him contracted up.

Rovers v Colchester

Rovers will want to bounce back after the somewhat disappointing defeat to Crewe Alex in the Checkatrade trophy on Tues night. Rovers were cruising at 3-1 and ended up losing 4-3 albeit with a weakened squad on the night.

Meanwhile Colchester’s checkatrade run also came to an abrupt end when they were beaten at home 2-0 to Southampton U21’s although have been fairing much better in the league. Currently sitting in 4th position, they started the campaign with a draw against Notts County and a win against Port Vale. Their most notable win to date coming against Crew Alex with an impressive 6-0 win with Dickenson grabbing a brace after just 26 minutes!

Micky Mellon has a few selection headaches ahead of the game. Adam Buxton made his comeback from a lengthy injury putting in a solid performance on Tues night although probably needs a few more games for fitness. Bakayogo is back from his short injury layoff and was another good performer on Tues night.

Jay Harris is chomping at the bit after serving his 3-match suspension for the sending off against Swindon and looked fired up and hungry against Crewe scoring a great goal in the process. Upfront, Paul Mullin is pushing closer to a start after taking his goal well and Cole Stockton grabbed his first goal of the season which will boost his confidence ahead of the game.
