Thoughts on todays game.
They was a really good strong 1000+ away support today, well done to all those who made the trip down to support the lads. =D>

It sounded like a decent effort, maybe more so in the first half, as 0-0 at HT was a good result. Shame we collapsed a bit in the second and found it difficult to break through their back line.

Need to win on Tues to keep up with the top five above us, now a 4 point gap seperates us from the top.

Didn't go the game today, but reading some comments and match reports sounds like we got what we deserved. To beat Forest we needed everyone to be at their best, and clearly today they weren't. Well done to the 1000+ fans who made the journey, I'll be at Chesterfield and Donny in the coming weeks.

Makes Tuesday night a must-win in my opinion. Otherwise we'll be counting the cost of all those points we drpped earlier in the season and start dropping down the table.

despite what it says on the front page of this site and the Tranmere site, it looked like we were playing a 4-4-2

Coyne

Stockdale Chorley Goodison Sherrif

Jennings Kay Mclaren Cooper

Taylor Greenacre

We played well in the first 20 minutes or so, but then we died off and speant the rest of the half containing Forest and restricting them to a few chances. We had clearly gone to try and get an early goal and holdout or otherwise try and get a draw.

In the second half we lost all of our organistation and Forest cut through us completely. There penalty was clearly a penalty, Sherrif stuck his arm out in the box and the ref had no choice but to award it. Coyne went for the corner, but unfortunately the wrong one! Forest second goal was a result of poor defending and Coyne not coming off his line, when he looked like he could of got to it.

We hardly any chances and deserved to lose. Greenacre was anonymos and didnt look fit, Cooper again didnt look fit, Sherrif was very poor, Mclaren and Kay werent really in the game and didnt put there foot down, Jennings just looked completely out of position and Ahmed looked out of his depth when he came on.

On the plus side Goodison had a good first half but was left exposed in the second half, Taylor worked hard up front and won headers. Curran looked good when he came on, but was perhaps over eager as he kept getting offside. Coyne also played quite well and made a very good save during the first half.

A final word to the ref, he was shocking! He got the penalty decision right but after about 20 minutes he just lost the plot completely and gave pointless bookings when he could have told players to calm down. Both sets of supporters were on his back!

To sum up the game: Disappointing, we were poor, they were better ,we lost. End of.

Lets bounce back and get 3 points against Oldham. =D>

Disappointing result. We weren't dreadful but weren't good either. 1st half we looked solid at the back... Goodison picked up from where he left off against Huddersfield and the midfield were doing ok. We managed to limit them to just the one chance in the 1st half... a shot that coyne tipped over. Unfortunatly for us we didn't shoot when we could from long range and a few last ditch tackles denied Taylor and Greenacre.

2nd half they got a penalty quickly for a needless handball by Sherriff and Agogo never looked like missing. After that we tried to attack a bit more but succeeded in giving the ball away more than getting forward. We did have a good chance to equalise when Sherriff's cross was pushed out to Taylor who brought it onto his left foot but fired wide from an angle when perhaps he should have hit the target.

Forest seemed happy to just break up our play and hit us on the break and that is how the 2nd came. Greenacre giving the ball away and as the cross came in from the left Tyson the substitute was left unmarked and smashed home off the bar. To give Tyson credit it was a great finish but he should never have been left alone 6 yards out. After that we had a few more chances. Kay's shot was tipped over, Mclaren's 20 yarder saved and Sherriff's header pushed onto the post by the keeper but I think we all already knew it was game over at 2-0. Forest could have had more with a few more break aways but they failed to capitalise.

Finally the referee I felt was poor. Taylor seemed to be on the end of some very harsh decisions but I should also say it wasn't just us on the end of the bad decisions. Forest should have had a penalty during the 1st half when Taylor climbed all over their player in the box as the ball came in from a corner. All in all I don't think Forest where that good but probably deserved the win. Need to do the job against Oldham like we did against Huddersfield in the last home game.

Yes, agree with most of the comments made above. Attendance was pleasing, good to see a decent turnout.

The game itself was a big disappointment, most of the players really weren't at the races today, even though we started brightly and caused one or two problems. After about 20 minutes though, Forest started getting into the game. It was shame we couldn't punish them early for being a bit sluggish. Later in the first half they had more of the ball and started to get into a groove. All in all though, the first half was a fairly even affair.

In the second half, the pen was the killer blow. After it, we really never looked like getting anything from the game, and it wasn't until the dying moments when we already 2-0 down that we had a very good chance, with Taylor hitting the post. Tyson took his goal well, a confident finish.

The most annoying thing was that Forest didn't really need to get out of second gear to beat us.

Roll on Oldham, which SHOULD be 3 points.
