Some interesting remarks made at the meeting by Mark. I've commented on his views on our performance elsewhere, but these are a few bullet points about some other things said.
  • Player budget in the region of £1.1 million
  • Target for the season was making the play-offs
  • A lot of work needs to be done to Prenton Park and making a start.[I got the impression that this has been a much bigger problem than they initially anticipated]
  • Monies raised by increased off-field activity help to fund players wages.
  • Tried to extend Dawson's loan time by sending him back to Kidderminster when injured, which wouldn't have left his club out of pocket, but they wouldn't agree.
  • Using sports science to assess player performance.
  • Thinks there are issues with the standard of refereeing at this level, but the person in charge hasn't responded to his texts requesting talks. Apparently the AR at Welling responsible for Sutton's later rescinded red card said it was for an attempted elbow, rather than acknowledging his mistake.
  • Assessing the future of the Academy. Thinks is better players get playing time at sides lower down the pyramid, if they can't hack it at that level, won't be any good for us.
  • Tried to get the Chester away fixture with a later ko, police want it 12pm Sunday.

Thanks, Boz. It's reassuring to see that there is a sound business strategy for the club with every aspect under review. As a fan, it's helpful to hear why things have or have not happened. If only the drive and organisation we see here could be relicated on the pitch.
