    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

Andy Crosby

Big question is whether our prospective new owners fancy him over anyone they may have already lined up. Either way, hopefully things will move fairly quickly now the season’s finally over.
This is the big question. Ironically, we have found a manager that seems to be moving us forward and he might not even get the job!

Another reason for appointing Andy is that any other manager will always be compared to him. He’ll be a difficult act to follow.

Your conclusion is to use the same measure which led to failure? Of all our recent managers apart from those who never worked as such again, only Moore and Mellon had any viable credibility in the industry after leaving us. Adkins joins Little and Adams as using TRFC to advance their retirements.
Dawes had a curious CV to even get on an EFL staff, his tenure as a full time EFL boss was quite a bizarre one. Not as bizarre as Parry granted, but he and the one who never got the hot seat Vaughan (but was close) ended up in a posts at senior Prem clubs albeit with zero input on who played in the first team.

Crosby is a typical new boss in this division now and typically he wouldn't last much more than a year, being shifted out as the fans believe he is a muppet. A truth that should be viewed as always with a backdrop of poor financial backing and a legacy of other people's signings.

Crosby or whoever would be a different prospect where they could retain whoever they wanted, ditch those contracted of no use and sign players well above our current level. That is what a proper takeover would look like, however many other types are available.

Yesterday was enjoyable, changed nothing especially over individuals but did our lot have a positive message sending them out with better intentions? Who knows, bjut one would hope Crosby and his team have had some form of clarity from the IOM?
My conclusion is don't offer a two and a half year deal when It may not work out.

Andy has been in the shop window, I am going to assume he isn't based on the Wirral and could be offered other opportunities closer to home.

I doubt any manager in demand would settle for less than two years. Which may leave you with a manager not in demand
All down to who owns us now

Adkins was not in demand.

We had no reason to offer him a contract of that length, unless it was a cosy deal to guarantee him a generous pay off from the new owners.

We should also remember that when he was given that contract, Apter had not yet made an impression and we had lost six games in a row with Adkins as caretaker. It was a ludicrous decision for a club of our resources.
