Deserves huge credit for preserving our Football League status, unlike some of those above and around him, who have been self-serving and negligent in their behaviour. If Adkins had remained, we were toast.

Thank you Andy.

Absolutely! If Hawkes scores the late pen at Harrogate the only defeat on his CV would be Donny. It was the speed at which he managed to turn the performances & morale around which impressed me the most, always difficult inheriting someone else’s squad although no doubt helped that he’d been around for the preceding few months.

You see what you want to see. Patrick pulled a free kick out at Accy then two more worldies, where would've been without them. He is a Nigel disciple without the CV. His preference for Saunders and Davison is frightening

With the late mini revival by Carlisle who won three on the bounce we would have been toast well before now if NA was in charge. Let's hope we see some positive changes soon!

I don’t get your gripe with Crosby, DB. The two players you named were both given 2 year deals by Adkins. Most of Adkins recent management posts have ended dismally whereas Crosby in his only other league management post created the opportunity for Port Vale’s promotion. He saved our bacon this season and like other posters, I’m very grateful for that. Thanks Andy!

Harsh.
He deserves our gratitude 100% as as RLC said in his OP we would have been relegated 100% if Adkins had stayed on.
I hope and trust that he gets a suitably decent bonus which he deserves and that he finds another good job elsewhere.
That said any decentish Manager would have done at least as decent a job. We had a squad that was mid table at least if competently managed. Sadly it wasn't.
Where you are 100% correct however IMO is yes thinking Saunders and Davison as being the answer to any question shows he is not the man to take us forward. We need better than that and if the takeover happens we will surely get.

He surely only used Saunders and Davison (occasionally) because the striking options were so dire aside from Dennis and he had little choice.

I don't believe in a million years he would have opted to have them in his squad. I don't think his use of them brings his judgement into question at all.

They are both better than Taylor? He through the middle is better than either by some margin surely? Saunders attempt today was symptomatic of his ineptitude at anything other than running fast.
Either way I think it will be irrelevant. If the takeover happens someone else will be brought in although he deserves credit as I said before and hopefully a bonus out of MP's personal pocket!

I think they are completely different players to Taylor. Yes, Taylor is quick, but Saunders is more of a workhorse and in certain games, such as Bradford away, that was the quality that was required.

Taylor has also put in impressive performances under Crosby.

I merely question the hero status and predict he will get the zero treatment soon enough, if given the chance. If Crosby created the opportunity by being sacked than maybe Nigel did. My problem with many fans confirmation bias is that they soon reverse it!
We shall see, well we really don't know what will see.
Yesterday Crewe looked a division higher than us, but predictably as the game wore on events took over the fixture- thankfully

A quarter of a season is longer than any new manager bounce and the fact that Crosby was able to get a tune out of the same squad that Adkins so dismally failed with means that AC at least makes competent on the manager gradings, probably more.

Unsure we were watching the same match. Crewe were arguably the better side in the first half, but after the break, even with their full compliment were rarely in it. Even in the opening half, the disallowed goal was their only goal attempt of note.

I think Taylor could have a future in the game but needs regular game time. His best position is probably up front as he’s quick and a clever finisher. He’d need a target man alongside him to do the donkey work.

I’m just not sure he’ll get that chance with us

Speaking of confirmation bias, no surprise that nobody’s given credit for what a shrewd move bringing Crosby in has proved to be. Brought in short term to help a struggling manager - a move which produced zero uptick in form or results - I for one didn’t believe he (and certainly any of our other backroom staff) could’ve turned things around when Adkins went. Thankfully, all doubts anyone may have had about handing him that particular task are now removed.

So well done Andy Crosby. Likeable bloke too. If his future isn’t to be with us then he’s surely boosted his prospects of landing another job elsewhere.

Or simply the cheapest and easiest appointment for Palios to make in a period when he had virtually checked out from the club.

As you state above, I doubt Palios had any idea there would be such a significant improvement in form. In fact, I doubt he really new anything about Crosby prior to Adkins requesting his appointment.

Little more than ten minutes…you’re slipping!

Or, even more simply, just a touch of foresight.

Except I didn’t state that at all.
In fact, I doubt he really knew anything about Crosby prior to Adkins requesting his appointment.
Er, right.
