Wonder if old boy Gary Taylor-Fletcher might apply. This was on his LinkedIn page today:
Looking at my time in management I know when I do finally get someone who recognises my quality and skills, that I will be successful.
When applying for football manager roles higher up in the football ladder, I have always been overlooked due to the level I was currently working at.
When player/manager at Bangor City, I had interviews at league 1 and League 2 clubs but feedback was always about not managing in England or the Welsh league isn’t at the same level.
To take over a team and have European management experience, was something special and gave me a hunger to lead.
Winning 6/7 of my games in charge as interim and qualifying for the Europa League stood me in good stead and then to finish 2nd behind a strong fulltime TNS the following season was again testament to how I set the team up and ran the club as manager.
Covid hit and job interviews slowed down but now being successful again at AFC Crewe helping a community board build a new club up through the leagues is enjoyable and challenging.
Why I know I can work higher up is due to the fact I have had to run everything to do with the 1st team in all my roles.
Recruitment, training, player analysis, travel organisation, budgeting, scouting, tactical planning and opposition reports all with minimal or no team behind me.
Something which has given me a platform to excel and adapt.
Walking up on a Saturday morning, having 2/3 players drop out some weeks and having to re organise plans.
Makes me a stronger manager to deal with the unexpected.
Why I know my steps through management will give me what I need in the future whenever I get a chance or helping AFC Crewe through the leagues.
