    New manager appointed
Tranmere Rovers have appointed Darrell Clarke as the club’s new manager.

The Squad 26/27

One thing seems very likely we will not have a keeper of Joe's quality regardless of age. Standard of keeping in this division is very poor, it has been our strong suit for years. Not sure we can afford to lose our strong suits we have few!

If we sign Male, he is a very decent prospect and I suspect could readily go on to much bigger things. If the chat about his wage demands is rubbish, then I profess to not understanding why on earth York released him

Ince’s salary isn’t in the public domain afaik and Male has denied all the Twitter hullabaloo about his salary. I’d agree, though, that Ince’s signing - if it happens - might suggest we’d be working with more than just another mid table budget.

Btw any of those websites out there that claim to have all players’ salary info can safely be ignored.
No, but he was consistently listed as one of Watford's higher paid players, £20K would be conservative. In terms of budget though and the 'activity' at the Club. There are basically two options, one, that the takeover is in fact just waiting for approval and that is expected soon, or it's looking like it's not going to happen. If it were the latter, I just don't see that the club would be doing the kind of business we have. Budget and wage bill aside, looking purely at the stats, the players we are signing and talking to are significantly 'higher up the table' than those we've signed the last few seasons. If as a player you had a few realistic options, what would attract you to Tranmere, with the issues and problems we've had the last few seasons, over another club. For that matter what would attract a decent management team to a struggling club. Until we are told it's done, anything is speculation of course, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to believe that the manager has a decent budget and has been told what's happening behind the scenes and believes in the direction the club is heading, similar then for those players who would have had realistic other options. Whether the signings are as good as I believe will only be shown once the season starts and I could easily be wrong, but we'll see.

I love your optimism, insight and logic @StuartR. I suspect that the pre-season dialogue on here would have made for pretty bleak reading without it. However, it is the hope that kills you. I'll be delighted (understatement) if anything comes to pass that leads to a reversal in the steady decline over the past few seasons, but will only believe it when I see it!
