Well, here we are. Down to the final game to determine our fate. Who would have guessed it?! Rovers were unable to spoil the party on Saturday as MK Dons stormed into League One with a 3-0 victory against Rovers. There were chances for Rovers and a debatable offside decision but ultimately, Rovers were guilty of poor defending for all three goals which has been the story of the season.

Five teams battle it out for survival. Tranmere, Newport, Crawley, Harrogate and Barrow. Rovers are on 40 pts along with Newport with Barrow currently bottom on 36. The schedule is as follows:

Tranmere (20) v Grimsby (6)
Barrow (24) v Newport (21)
Crawley (22) v Salford (4)
Harrogate (23) v Barnet (9)

Realistically, I think Barrow are doomed as they would have to thump Newport by a few goals just to stand a chance. So that's four teams left battling it out. I don't think we get anything against Grimsby as they are just too good for us and we are still struggling to find form and no doubt Andy Cook will score against us as he always tends too and Jaze Kabia will be a handful, they are also in good form.

So that leaves our fate in the hands of Crawley who play 4th place Salford and Harrogate who play Barnet in 9th. Crawley and Harrogate are only 1 point behind us.

Patrick is injured for this one so we are pretty much down to bare bones. I don't expect much change to the starting lineup and I also expect Wild to start cautious and then go gung ho when we find ourselves 1 or 2 down with 10 mins to go!

What could possibly go wrong?

I’ve heard that Joseph will also miss the game so we really are down to the bare bones again if it is true. If JJ is missing then presumably Blacker will come back into the squad. Hopefully Bristow is fit to start as he’s done ok in recent games.

My assumption is we’ll lose and it’ll be down to other results. I’m not expecting anything from Wild and probably given the form of the visitors, he will set us up for a point. Up top it’ll be interesting if Woolery keeps his place after missing that chance or if Dennis (who scored the second v Crewe late last season), gets a start.

Grimsby may make some changes as they have secured a play off place but they have a decent squad and you don’t need much to beat us at the moment.

Prediction- a rovers defeat but I think we’ll just about stay up. If we went down then I dread to think what the atmosphere will be like. Wonder if Palios will turn up…you would think so given the magnitude of the game.

The club have reminded ST holders that they can bring a friend for half price. Approx 2,500 ST holders haven’t used the voucher code they’ve had all season (probably a good thing!)

Wild surely has to start with a back four and go for it on Saturday,

If Joseph is missing it is a huge loss, as is the absence of Patrick, whatever his recent form. Joseph has been our best player in recent weeks.

Plant can switch for JJ. The three centre halves look solid and wing backs have been our only effective width all season. Id bring blacker in let Finley stay deep.
Woolery is the new Patrick hasn't scored yet, fluffed several chances and threatens little. Let him replace whits late on if needed.
You need battlers and ironside takes out two defenders which is what our meagre attacks need, space.
0-0 is job done trouble is as often happens they scored late on

I agree RLC but I can’t see it. Given the form of the visitors even if they rest players, I can see him once again hoping not to concede and nick something on the counter. Not a good idea because we can’t keep clean sheets and it stifles some of our attacking players like Whitaker.

The only chance is that Wild thinks as it’s in our hands we may as well go for it and be attacking, but I’d be surprised

I just don't have any confidence in wild the team or the club what got me last week was the celebrations like they had stayed up, we need to knuckle down and concentrate, us fans have done our part and sufferd for it now these slackers need to show up and just simply do their jobs problem is they haven't done it all season

Please stop selling, the players always forgot to turn up in front of big crowds
Not sure many have been here long enough to have seen one. Even the numbest fan won't boo during the match, so can only be a plus.
Be interesting to see the Grimsby take on events, I think they will be focused on the next match not pursuing the details of it.

took the words right out of my mouth AM really hope i,m wrong but don,t see anyone busting a gut saturday having sat through a season of dire performances.

To me, we have to go for the win, a draw and we are relying on other teams, whether we get it is another thing but we must give it everything we have and the players must leave everything on the pitch.

As a Club we probably don't deserve it but for the fans staying up would at least leave a positive vibe to end the season. Never will a defeat have felt more like a win if Salford or Barnet can prevail. I'll take a 0-7 drubbing if one of them can deliver a 1-0 win.

There’s no doubt at all we’ll be going into the game trying to win it, but going at it gung-ho would be suicidal. It’d be game over by half time!

We need to box clever, establish some control and pick our moments. Not sure we’ve got too much of that in our locker either, mind, but imho it’s our best hope of three points, or even one point.
