The Guardian is reporting that a 20 year old is likely to buy Morecambe! Who would be a fan there? Mind you, Morecambe have come a long way. I recall seeing them in the Lancashire Combination and later the Northern Premier League, when it was founded in 1968.

The current owners did own Worcester Rugby Club who went into administration

Actually, Simeu was decent. He even had his own SWA song. If he hadn’t been stupidly sent off, he would still be in the team and would not have left. Ironically, if JDC or Bristow go, there would have been space for him.

We are very light on loanees and I think that we may sign two or three soon. In the January window, it’s usually more difficult and often expensive to make good permanent signings.

Southampton rightly want him to play at a higher level, so he would have been recalled irrespective of the red card.

How do you know this? Clearly Simeu wants to play and both club and player see this as a better way to achieve this. If they just wanted him to play at a higher level, they wouldn’t have chosen the bottom team in League One.

He was clearly too good for League Two based on his performances here and a loan to League One would be the logical next step in his development, after successful loan spells here and at Carlisle. He was only out of the side for a couple of games and would have been perfectly capable of competing with Davies and Turnbull to get his place back.

He is still playing against the strikers of Ipswich, Plymouth, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton etc. irrespective of the League One club he is at.

His going is a retrograde step I think as it leaves us light for quality cover at centre-back and, even worse, badly placed for cover at right-back should Dacres-Cogley leave this window.

The problem with any loanee is that we are in the hands of the parent Club. Clearly Soton identified that Simeu was not going to play every week with us. As has been said Morecambe are a L1 side albeit one that is not performing well and has ownership issues. Let us hope that he is replaced by another decent loanee. Now Simeu and Byrne have gone we clearly need someone as we cannot rely on Jameson.

Don’t think Simeu’s departure was specifically linked to his anticipated lack of playing time, so much as getting him a chance to play at L1 level.
If you consider the timing, the loan must have been organised in advance of the Boxing Day game against Doncaster, which was the first match where Simeu was actually dropped.

Thankfully Davies was around after Simeu's silly red card. He hadn't played for quite a while, probably wasn't fully match fit but slotted back into defence perfectly relegating Simeu to the subs bench. Good player to have in the side.
