 .... apparently one of Zola's was a header, Taylor's was a scorcher from outside the box, Ellison's was a header and Davies scored after a mix up between their defender and keeper. Their goal was a 30 yard strike apparently,

ok

beautiful day, great pie & chips, very poorly poured guinness

chris shuker played well first 30 minutes first half put in some good crosses

zola scored from one, crossed from near the corner flag towering header

good interplay between mclaren, mullin shuker zola led to ellison's far post header
taylor took his goal well, clinical finish from inside the box

second half much the same morecambe defended like amateurs to concede two sloppy goals fom zola, davis

best strike was a 30 yarder by the morecambe mid, dont know his name

had started to lose the will to live by that stage

positives

achto in goal lasted the 90 although looked a bit tired at the end

davis and jones looked very hungry and held the ball up well with some

neat touches

goodison had a stormer cleared everything, looked solid at centre back

mcready - very tall

shuker - very small

mullin ran about like a dog after a bone great fitness level

taylor great forward play lay the ball off and passed and shot

negatives

ellison - didnt get into the game till the last fifteen when def was goosed

zola - couldnt trap a bag of cement

stockdale - looked short of confidence def too deep never got forward

********************

sat near a morecambe fan who kept telling ronnie to "sit down ken barlow"

at top of his voice which kept me on my toes

few decent looking lasses flying about the place

oh and jason came on to do his impression of beckham

sorry about the way i have written this, very tired just got in and trying to

remember what i can

pics to follow

Ohh come on, why must we give Zola so much stick. He scored two goals didn't he!

An enterprising match report there AJSM. Looking forward to the match pics :-D

Friendly results don't matter. Okay that's a lie, but the only people they do matter to are the supporters and (some of the) players. And so it's a great result!! Certainly comparing it to the same fixture last year which was a bore draw - and there were so many draws in that following season.. so hopefully there will be many 5-1 victories in this coming season!!

As for Zola, I quite like the melodramatic semi-legal immigrant kid. I'm definitely not going to be seeing his play through rose-tinted glasses and he may well end up the victim of some brutally honest observations from me during the season. C'est la vie.

Great review and fotos AJSM!=D>

Sounds like a decent performnce, players starting to gel and playing well and good to see a few goals being scored, always a bonus and Taylor on the scresheet for his first in a white shirt. Hoping that gives him confidence to score a fair few with Greenacre in the coming season.

Thought this was quite funny...

while up front any manager - even in the Championship - would be proud of a strike force of Gareth Taylor and Calvin Zola.

I wouldn't go that far...
