I have started this thread for two reasons. The first is to try to forget about the problems at Prenton Park. The second is an excuse for a rant about how poor and insular American sport is and how we have benefited from exporting all our sports around the world.
I have just read about the new Chelsea owner’s revolutionary idea to transform the Premier League.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp unimpressed with Todd Boehly's 'All-Star Premier League game' idea

The man just doesn’t get it. Imagine football without promotion/relegation, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. No World Cup, Euros or international games. No Champions League or international club games. That’s what they are missing in baseball and American football. They chose to monopolise their sports by a franchising system, whereas we allowed everyone to play football, cricket, rugby, tennis etc. As a result, our own sporting calendar is so rich. We may no longer be the best at any of them, but surely we enjoy it a lot more. Rant over.
