So Liverpool's fixture pile-up meant fielding two different teams on consecutive days in two different continents. I expect not many on this forum would have any sympathy for Liverpool but surely it is a symptom of how much greed there is in top level football. Too many fixtures, too many competitions. Despite trashing traditions like some cup replays, the calendar is still overcrowded. The League Cup's credibility receives another blow as a Liverpool team is fielded with twelve appearances between them. Shirt numbers started at 51 and went up to 99! No surprise they lost, unlike our youth team who won at Maidstone United three years ago . Incidentally, even at our level I think we play too many games.
At the end of the season England will go into Euro 2020 with nearly all their players knackered from a ridiculously long and intensive season.
