Think he had 8 years at the club, Davies has had 6I often thought Rides would see his career out here. He is the longest serving player by far and was with us under Ronnie in League One before the great slide. He’s been around so long that he has almost earned a testimonial. However, he is still worth first team league football and I’m sure he’ll get a two year deal on decent money. Thanks and good luck.
He will have been offered more money and likely be 1st choice elsewhere while he would be back up on 1 year deal hereLiam travelled in from Yorkshire for training or matches, he has been like us through the bad times and the good times, I remember him in tears, after getting sent off at Wembley. He was a model pro and he was so reliable and made the left back position his own. I did believe he wanted to spend the rest of his career with us, he really wanted a testimonial! If he was offered another one year contract, I wonder why he turned it down? He was a vital player for our success getting back in the league.
Best of luck, Rides!
I think it's more likely to be a question of geography, money and contract length that have helped him reach the decision. Had Liam stayed, I'm not sure that he would have been automatic second choice to Macdonald. He will have been offered more money and likely be 1st choice elsewhere while he would be back up on 1 year deal here
