They have the potential to be in the mix next season and their manager, whatever our views are of him, is no mug. It would be more of a surprise in terms of geography if Manny ended up in Barrow after indications he wanted to head back down south.
Perhaps geography is not his strongest subject. Certainly, his sense of direction isn’t that brilliant on the pitch.

Merrie joins on a 2 year deal for an undisclosed fee.

So now we have Jolley, Merrie so all we need is grumpy!

Paul Lewis moved onto Northampton,

No great loss for me but as he is called Paul it is likely he will score 30 goals for them this season (another Mullin)

Clearly Micky must rate him and see his potential to give him a long deal and pay compensation to Wigan. He is a Scouser, but I think the main reason he is here is to get more game time. He played only 18 league games (including as a sub) last season. My only reservation is that he is an attacking midfielder but has yet to score a league goal.

Merrie is an interesting signing, from what I've read, he's a player in similar vein to Jay Spearing, so the plan may be to have him working alongside Jay initially before replacing him. Good from our perspective that he'd rather drop a league to play for Rovers than stick with Wigan, who offered him a new deal.

Maybe I'm out on a limb here, but would have offered Lewis a new deal, he wasn't a striker, but as a box to box midfielder, he could have chipped in with a few goals and been a decent squad player. However see he's got a 2 year deal at Northampton, so good luck to him.

I am pleased with the Merrie signing. A good young prospect who will give us additional legs and energy in midfield.

Lewis was a reasonable box to box midfielder, but there are better options out there (hopefully Merrie is one of them). Players have to be shipped out if we are to refresh the squad.

Wasn't as excited as some others clearly were in the Davies signing as I fear another injury prone player, however the new signings today are great news. Excited that Merrie joined us rather than staying with Wigan and we were willing to pay a fee. KnightP was good against us as already mentioned above and I love the description by MM of him being a Warrior! Speaks very eloquently also. They are great additions on paper.
Clarke and Murphy were always likely to re-sign if offered but despite that it is important that we did the business and got them over the line. Excellent start.

Nat knight-percival signed 1 years deal.
An interesting one. He's 34 but didn't make his league debut until he was 25. He started off as a free-scoring winger and still knows where the goal is. He has an excellent pedigree and I'm surprised Morecambe let him go, but maybe we offered better money for once. I rate him as a more than adequate replacement for Manny.
