Barrow are after Jamie Devitt not sure if that impacts them signing Banks or not

We have surely got to bring at least one central midfielder in, or we are very light in that area.

I have got mixed feelings about this. Yes, Banks was inconsistent but he did have the ability to change games.

Banks joined Barrow on a permanent deal. Overall he had a decent spell with us and will be remembered for that goal at home in the play offs v FGR.

On other occasions he was downright frustrating and at times a bit cumbersome. clearly a very talented player technically but Hill happy to let him go. Good luck Ollie, a likeable chap

Early views on social media don’t welcome the decision. Like RLC I’m a bit mixed as on his day he could change a game. Centre midfielders remaining as far as I can tell are Spearing and Lewis although others could do a job there so clearly not enough as Young went back to Newcastle also

Banks also played a big part in turning the season round in 2017-18 when he came on his initial loan, and made a big contribution to our return to the Football League.

Hope Hill knows what he is doing.....

yes one of Wembley heroes v Newport too.

the likes of Ferrier and CBT have previously been linked with moves away. Could be an interesting few days and ahead

I would guess Hill wants the option to play an orthodox 442 and does not think Banks is reliable enough to play that role regularly. Lewis is not great as a partner to Spearing either, as we have seen.

As I have said, I hope he has got a decent replacement lined up.

On the assumption that Banks will be replaced, it will be interesting to see what quality of player KH considers appropriate to help us achieve promotion.

yes and who he can attract. Will it be a young loaneee from team higher up the leagues or a more experienced option? Time will tell

Not sure about the social media meltdown. He was OK, very good at times but also inconsistent. I don’t think he is one to take us forward though. Hope it works out for him at Barrow.

Ollie Banks was an infuriating player, but at his best, as we saw in the game v Leicester kids, he could run a game, while his infrequent goals were often spectacular, like those v Forest Green and Peterborough. I'm sad rather than devastated to see him go and hope things work out for him in Cumbria.

The ITK poster on another Rovers forum suggests that Hill would have preferred to keep him, but was unable to move others on.

Ollie will surely have gone because of the lure of an extended deal. KH clearly considered him more icing than cake. His TRFC contract would have run out in June. Good luck to him.

The proof is in who gets brought in to replace him. How good are KH's transfer dealings - or do we still have a recruitment specialist at the club?

The ITK person on the other site is suggesting we're giving trials to a left-back { } and a striker, so maybe not looking to replace Ollie?

I have no idea why we need three left backs and only one specialist right back. The suggestion is that Mac Donald is going to be played out of position permanently at right back.

I will say no more....

surely not another left back?. Does this mean he doesn’t rate McDonald or as RLC says he’ll have Callum as competition for OConnor at RB? If the latter then it’s a square peg. Why not keep OConnor and have Khan as back up and worst case play Nelston there?

The problems are at the other end of the pitch although hopefully boz is right and a striker is coming in, preferably one with some aerial strength

So far then Smith, Young and Banks all left with no incomings to the squad. We are very light on central midfield as well as right back yet look to possibly bringing in a left back........
