the teams with plenty of signings have their owners money so I doubt they would be too concerned as it is only around 1 month without crowds if things go to.plan.
I agree. Forest Green have signed a lot of players but hey are an owner’s plaything. He will not be spending big money in the context of his wealth. How about Fair Play rules in the EFL! Oh hang on. You get round them by hiring top briefs and going to a general sport judicial body!

Any players under 21 their wages will not count towards the salary cap, think fg have signed a couple in that category so.maybe a smart move.

But clubs who are not wealthy have also been dishing out contracts. And even FGR and Mansfield don't have an infinite amount of money to waste.

One month without crowds is a best case scenario, and even when crowds do return it will be with only 30% capacity for the foreseeable future.

I agree RLC although Vince is allegedly worth 100m. I think your second paragraph is the more telling one. Many clubs will be struggling as the season progresses and, who knows, we might see the return of the part time player in L2.

Hearing that Macclesfield have been wound up. Such a shame, and I dont think they will be the last....
I agree. Macc have been in some sort of trouble for a while, the latest setback has tipped them over the edge. Most other clubs will have survival plans, but most will depend on crowds some time soon. If there is a second wave leading to another lockdown, as is highly likely, spectator sport will be the first to suffer. So, I think we will lose two or three more before next May.

My prediction is that the EPL will continue, as may the Championship, but I don’t expect Leagues One and Two to complete the coming season. Hope I’m wrong, but I can’t see it.

I'll be honest, I've never felt so out of love with football as I do now. It's all about the matchday experience for me - travel, family, friends, socialising, atmosphere. My experience of iFollow is pretty shocking and I'd rather watch a decent drama on TV than football. Who'd have believed that something that pretty much directed my free time could seem so irrelevant so quickly. Pretty gutted.

Yes, I feel exactly the same.

Yes, I’m missing it too. But my anger is directed at the EFL and to some extent the government for their incompetence. My feelings for TRFC if anything have become stronger in recent times. We have behaved with propriety and dignity despite some recent hammer blows. Our time will come again, although sadly it may be at the expense of many of our rivals going out of business. It will be survival of the fittest. I predict a massive shake-up in the next year or so.

There is talk of a PL 250m support package but the latter are saying that they are not clear as to what the EFL actually want (no surprise there!). For example, what do Birmingham need if they have just received 30m for Bellingham or Exeter who received 4m as part of the Watkins sale from Brentford to Villa?

This would be where any support package becomes messy, whatever the source if it. The danger is that the better run clubs are effectively penalised by receiving less support which effectively applauds the historical poor management/overstretched finances/massive debts of the clubs most at risk.

I would expect a bit more argument amongst the EFL clubs than we had for the PPG proposal . A fixed amount per club would be ideal, at least for us. More likely would be more for the Championship and less for League Two, which would mean we’d lose out again . If done on the basis of “need”, that would cause even more arguments. But it’s a nice problem to have, unlike PPG was.

A second League Two match has been postponed and the season is only three weeks old. The way things are going nationally, things can only get worse. I now think maybe we won’t be able to complete this season even without spectators. We may not even have enough fit players.

I agree with your comments ONIGP AND BBTC. We Can but wait and see. Wilder and Klopp say it is a good idea but that does not mean much of course.

I see the National League is lined up to get direct support from the government. I didn’t think they’d even heard of the NL, but that bodes well for other lower level professional sports. I think they must be assuming the EFL will be supported by the EPL. If not, there will be a problem. I’m just grateful we left the NL when we did.

While I wouldn't want to be in the NL ever again, being reliant on the Premier League for a bail out does cause concern. There is going to need to be some government help to ensure all sides in L1 and L2 survive or a review of the no crowds policy or possibly both.
