It is a trip to the Bescot Stadium up next for Rovers, as we attempt to end our frustrating run of stalemates.

Our hosts are draw specialists themselves and concede relatively few goals, despite a pretty horrendous run of only two victories in nineteen games, which suggests this could be another frustrating affair. Walsall will be buoyed by their victory over Forest Green at the weekend, which effectively made them safe from relegation. That could result in them playing with greater freedom on Tuesday night, which may or may not be to our benefit. We were completely outplayed in the reverse fixture at Prenton Park, although they have lost a manager and a couple of key players since then, including top scorer Adebayo who left for Luton in January. It is debatable whether that fixture has much relevance for this game.

I have given up trying to suggest a team selection or formation that will end our goal drought. I think the only tactic that has not been attempted is playing CBT up front alongside Woolery, and I am getting to the point where I would suggest playing Burton or Jolley for forty five minutes, at least to try and shake things up a bit. One of the real frustrations of recent weeks is that I thought that by now, with Vaughan absent for over six weeks, we would have developed a strategy and pattern of play to cope better without him, but that is not the case. We are running up as many blind alleys as we were a month ago.

This match is probably the last chance saloon for our automatic promotion hopes, and we have to find some goals and win the game. My head suggests a draw, my heart hopes otherwise.

My head says this has 0-0 written all over it but my heart hopes we can nick a goal. We will have chances, so the lads have to be clinical and put them away. Come on Rovers, we need three points!

If Nugent is in the team, I will start banging head against brick wall around 7pm.

Sooner or later our luck will change. We will get a fortunate refereeing call or a silly own goal and confidence will return. I am hoping Tuesday will be the night.

I’ve gone for a draw but if Walsall score first it could be a long night. We still have striking options as RLC suggest. CBT through the middle is one or Woolery with Feeney on the right. I really can’t see Jolley playing after what Keith has said about him not being ready but give burton a go - he can’t do any worse than Nugent which we can’t just keep trying in the hope it will work.
Our poor form didn’t matter for a while as everyone else was losing but it’s now caught up with us. Bolton have a tough game at Salford so this is potentially an opportunity to overtake them if we can somehow get three points

Nugent is a pain in our ass, even if he just got the odd assist or goal but to do nothing, just hope we don,t get him in the summer, just going off a little we have a 17-year-old defender training with us from Swansea-Cian Williams out of contract in summer and been told he can leave-at least plans are in motion for next season

Its more of a hope that this will be avoided, nice as it is to have a day at PPS, but Teams who get to the Wembley playoff final will be able to have around 5000 supporters. My prediction of a 2-0 win at Scunthorpe fell flat, so I am not going to predict the Walsall scoreline. My only concern is how well Walsall snuffed out Tranmere at PP. They effectively forced errors from the defence forcing that horrible 'lump it forward' style of play I dislike. Hopefully, Tranmere can be more dominant this time.

We aren't playing badly and are due a win. Fancy 0-3 with a mishit in-swinging corner, a hotly-disputed penalty and an own goal.

Little to add to what's been said already. Different rookie manager and the other two who scored against us aren't making the hosts starting xi now. Looking at the highlights of their recent win against FGR, the visitors marking was poor and with more clinical finishing the winning margin could be more comfortable. Walsall probably need another 2-3 points to be absolutely safe and have a similar recent record to us.

In terms of line-up, cant see any harm in trying CBT up front as RLC suggests, probably ahead of Lloyd who was quiet on Saturday. I'd also start Morris against his former club ahead of Crawford, as he's more likely to get a goal.
