Mellon has shown in the past that winning is his priority, and he will adapt his approach accordingly. We don't know what will happen in the next ten games, but I never thought we would collapse under Mellon as we did under Hill last season, as some were suggesting.

Won’t repeat others comments but a couple of mentions.

Murphy was very good and you can see he just has that calmness about him and I think Clarke preferred having him there. Davies was beaten for their second but Hawkins is a handful to be fair.

Feel really sorry for glatzel. He missed a couple of years football after his bad knee injury at Liverpool and you do wonder if that makes him prone to other injuries. Such a shame for him. To be honest I’ve never been totally convinced by Nevitt but his took his goals well

Northampton and forest both losing

As it stands, we are 4th. Newport jump above us into 3rd with a 2-0 win, Northampton are 1-1, Exeter 0-0 and Sutton are losing. Ohh, and FGR are losing again! Bristol Rovers sneak into the playoffs with a 3-0 win against Harrogate. Not bad at all. We are only 2 points from 2nd. 10 to go!

Northampton concede a late goal at in form Carlisle. Overall a decent set of results by the look of it unless Exeter or Swindon nick late winners

Overall not a bad set of results despite Swindle’s late winner. Interesting that Forest Green in a bit of a slump, while still expected them to go up automatically, it won’t be a picnic for them.

As overall results go that wasn't a bad set today......particularly as we've still got home games to come against Bristol Rovers and Exeter.....it's in our own hands, we just need to keep on winning.

We were 6 points clear if fourth and ten 10 clear of 8th not that long ago, if its not a collapse its a very poor run.
Hopefully we will kick on again and go on a winning run but the key will be getting wins away as we still have 5 games away and our record is frankly poor.

We barely won for twelve to fifteen games under Hill last season, which is not comparable with our recent run. We are still in the thick of the automatic promotion race, which we certainly were not in the closing weeks under Hill.

As has been commented, a good set of results which demonstrate that games in hand don't necessarily translate to points on the board. Bristol Rovers are on the charge and look dangerous.

Desire the growing concern of leakng goals from set pieces in injury time at the back post and the injuries. The three points put us back in the mix for at least a chance of going up automatically!
We began with our first corner and a back post corner headed in by our skipper to take the lead, for the majority of the first half we began to be frustrating ourselves by playing to their strengths, we could not dominate the ball, giving the ball back at nearly every opportunity, their possession stats were very high and everyone was wishing the half time whistle would go, but alas, the dominant p!ay paid off by scoring the last kick of the half!
The second half started not so good, but we started to keep the ball better and confidence grew as our possession became better. After a couple of forced substitutions to our line up, we kept the momentum up and because of this they brought on another defender and went three at the back with wing backs as this helped the midfield to help us find the space and an injury to their centre half changed as he had won everything thrown by us and this led to their dominance.
The substitute was a midfielder for the centre back, and not long after we exploited this change after a deflected pass led to our second goal!
We had chances before and after this including hitting the post and some positive individual runs and passing moves!
However, once again the momentum was lost as they came looking for an equaliser, and deep into injury time they did!
By then, time is running down, the fans were reluctantly accepting a draw and when the matchwinner pounced after controlling the pass, a little couple of touches for the shot to rocket past their keeper!
the kop erupted in disbelief, that 'The super sub' won the game!


There were several times during the game that swayed the momentum, changing shape and tactics, and the set piece problems, are a major headache, and this does need to change, I felt that our right wasn't working well at all until Morris, who is usually dependable had to go off, the introduction of Nevitt, have us a chance to hold the ball up better, as much as Hemmings didn't!
Clark and Davies must sort things back to clean sheets to help either keeper,. We need a better balance of attacking oltions, especially when the long or diagonal hopeful pass doesn't work,. We can play to feet and we can create, but some of our crossing was pretty poor!
If like me, the form of both teams and history, a draw was the likely outcome, so winning against a rival was important and gratefully accepted! We have to go into Tuesday with more confidence against a team struggling for form and give us the momentum for these last ten games!
Friday nights are Prenton Park nights!
The twelfth man strikes again!
Great atmosphere and total limbs at the end of around of 110 minutes of entertainment!

Nigel cloughs post match interview is worth a watch. The most disappointing thing for him was that his side didn’t receive a single yellow card. Plus he names two players at least of his who didn’t tackle.
