Well boy did we need that, a pretty entertaining game with a fairly poor ref I thought.
I thought it was 2 decent teams and we had a number of good performances, mcmanaman looked a different player but I would give Nevitt mom, he is turning into an inspired signing and I wouldn't mind another few from lower down with such hunger to succeed

I agree with most of the comments above.

I thought it was a complete team performance and a relatively comfortable victory. I thought Exeter were second best pretty much throughout and looked fairly average, which is testament to how well we did with and without the ball.

The first half was very tight, but I thought we looked the more creative of the two sides. Exeter hit the bar early on, but thereafter we had the better chances, with their keeper making a couple of good saves in addition to the goal. We were particularly dangerous down our right side, where Cogley and MacManaman linked up well and had very good games.

The opening period of the second half reminded me of a lot of our victories in the winning run earlier in the season. Exeter dominated the ball but our defensive discipline was brilliant, not just the back four but the entire team. The spaces between defence, midfield and attack were so small Exeter could not play through us and were restricted to speculative efforts from distance. We continued to look the more dangerous side when we did break forward and the second goal was deserved when it came. As Mart says, Nevitt is starting to score different types of goals on a regular basis and looks the real deal now.

There were so many good individual displays, it is difficult to single players out. However, I thought both full backs were great, and Hawkes showed good character and his best game for a long time, with a very good free kick in addition to the goal. Nevitt worked tirelessly up front. However, I agreed with sponsor's choice of MacManaman as man of the match. He really looks a cut above when he is motivated and on his game.

If we play like that in the final three games, we will win all of them. We just have to take that attitude to Stevenage next week.

It was a very good game. Exeter had more possession and chances but an inability to make them count, the only real save they brought out of Murphy was deep in added time. Rovers made a few telling efforts and there were a lot of above par performances today. Macmanaman probably earned MoM but you could make an argument for many. Nevitt’s battling in the first half goal build-up and cool header for the second were key elements in our win.

Other results at the top didn’t go the way we’d have liked, but we are deservedly still in contention.

I am really not sure they did. More speculative efforts over the bar and wide from distance, but we had the clearer opportunities and tested their keeper far more often.

Their first shot on target was in the 95th minute.

As Boz says Nevitt not only got the second but his pressing was key in the build up to the first goal.

Re Hawkes. I just thought it wasn’t his day. Very predictable coming inside. Dispossessed fairly easily, lost control at times and early in the second half gave the ball away a few times.
But to be fair he’s still a youngster so will be inconsistent but as I say hopefully he’ll have had a big boost after the goal

In fairness, I thought he was much better today than at Bradford where he really struggled, and it took character for him to respond to that poor performance.

He is always likely to pop up with a vital goal even when he is not playing particularly well, which is a good attribute to have.

Brilliant Rovers display and just what we needed to lift the spirits. Best team today and fully deserved the win. We need three more of these performances to secure our place in the playoffs, but it does make things tasty now. We have to win next week otherwise this is all for nothing. We need battlers out there and we need a few more big performances.

Nevitt and Cogley were both excellent today as was Mcmanaman. Hawkes is a funny one. I thought his control and general play was not great and hasn't been for weeks but he did get a goal so cant grumble too much.

Rovers march onto Stevenage for a massive game on Saturday!

Much much better and a fully deserved win. Far more direct - we took the game to them and aside from 10 minutes when they switched formation after the substitutions we were very comfortable. The big difference was McManaman again putting in an excellent performance. Makes it even the more galling how lacking in effort he has been all season. They had only the early chance which went off the top of the crossbar and the one well saved by Murphy in injury time. Incidentally Murphy was feeling his right hamstring in last 15 minutes and seemed in discomfort - hope he is ok!
Thought Exeter were poor TBH - their commentators were disparaging and said it was one of their worst performances all season. Sums up the nature of this League.
Hopefully the whole team's confidence will be raised - just need to play like that away from home in the last 2 away games....

It’s ironic that we have just completed the double over one of the nailed-on promotion contenders. If only we could have produced today’s performance three or four times more, we’d be up there with them.

We tend to do well against the top teams. It's the teams that aren't doing so well where we hit a stumbling block.

Yes

Their manager is quite gracious in his comments. He always comes across as a reasonable guy.
Yes I’ve thought that in the past. Very honest and complimentary about what a tough place PP is to come. Their second interview on their website from the lad with the McNulty type build (Sweeney) is also complimentary

Rumours on another site that Peterborough had a scout at the game yesterday to watch Cogley

Various things to factor in, how much they offer if they do, what position we are financially especially as season ticket sales are likely to be reduced. We could also offer an extension to see if he's willing to stay or not
