I agree with RLC that Keith's recruiting is a bit of an unknown at present and we'll have to see what happens in the summer, if he remains, which he will almost certainly get the opportunity to do. As has become apparent Mark and the former agent also seem to have more involvement in recruitment these days too.

There are a couple of mitigating features for January. Nugent wasn't bought to be the main striker, more as back-up and support and he demonstrated that with his sub cameo at Carlisle, setting up the winning goal for Vaughan. James' injury has given Nugent a more prominent role than envisaged and he's struggled to deliver on that. Suspect KH had seen very little of Jolley before signing, perhaps not expecting him to be as raw as the difficult debut v Stevenage showed. Arguably we should have kept hold of Payne, though if Vaughan hadn't been injured, Stefan would have mainly been a spare part. Kirby had presumably been loaned on advice from Dawes, after his earlier loan spell at Blackpool and with Khan being re-deployed elsewhere there was the need for an attacking midfielder, but given his pedigree a little disappointing how things have worked out for Nia. The one signing which puzzles is Crawford, who KH will know best of the January recruits, but so far seems a wage that would have been better used elsewhere.
