We all know from bitter experience how difficult it is to get promoted out of the National League, especially via the playoffs. I was expecting Wrexham to face Chesterfield in the final, but neither club made it. Next season, that league will be stuffed with former EFL sides, all desperate to regain their status. Glad we got out when we did or we still might be there.

Kane Wilson League Two Player of the Season in the Guardian. No current Rovers players in the Team of the Season. No surprise that FGR, Bristol Rovers and Exeter were heavily represented together with the Swindon goalkeeper and one from Port Vale and one from Newport.

James Wallace appointed chief scout at Preston
Glad he's found a job in football. Of course, he knows manager Ryan Lowe from his time at PP.

Incredibly, James is still only 30. If he'd still been playing for us last season, he'd have been one of our younger players. ;)

Some turnaround Hurst’s achieved there. Although he briefly gave them hope in L2 when he was appointed they were generally dire that season, and not many teams come back up first time.

Hurst is a very underrated manager. He was apparently Palios's first choice to replace Jackson when Hill was ultimately appointed.

Grimsby are the first club to finish sixth or seventh in the National League and win promotion under the new play off format. Away wins at Notts County and Wrexham prior to today's victory, with all three games lasting 120 minutes. Quite an achievement.
