Peter Gulasci has an up and down night against England. A couple of good saves from Kane, and then a couple of ricks for the third and fourth England goals.

Glad he’s cleared his Oldham jinx. Always seemed very nervy when playing for us v Latics, good goal too.

Was it right to let Banks go in January? Is our current midfield any better? We could do with a few thirty year screamers! Hill clearly did not fancy him but Mellon was obviously a fan.

Yes on both counts.

His good games for us were few and far between, he didn't do enough for me and we were right to let him go.

While it was certainly the right decision to let Banks go, he was rarely getting first team action and had a longer contract offer with Barrow, there are some components of his game; the killer pass and occasional worldie that are missed.

I think in hindsight his biggest contribution was in the National League promotion season, when his arrival together with Mottley-Henry helped to turn the season round.

He played a role in the League Two promotion campaign, but not as significant as those of others like Jennings and Perkins.

I think Banks suffered more than most from the departure of Norwood. His forte was the ball over the top for Nors to run on to, and he did not really develop that kind of relationship with any of the other strikers he played with.

Banks was simply not consistent enough and so very much like CBT too much of a luxury player - yes some great through balls but only when he was in acres of space and had time. In close contact went missing for large parts of games and poor at defending/ tackling. Pleased though if he is doping well at Barrow - maybe playing a different role affords him more time and space?

It's a very similar story to man of the match.
Whoever scores, gets an award.
Regardless of the build up to the goal.
So if Cole is top scorer, it's no surprise to me!
