Baxter is scoring goals in a poor Oldham team so theres no reason why he wouldnt score goals for us, as for hes not a conventional centre forward that seems an odd reason for Ronnie not to sign him.

I will be surprised if Cassidy gets much of a look in at Wolves besides the odd appearance off the bench.

I agree, but that seems to be the decision Ronnie has made from his interview on Saturday.

I wish we would have signed Baxter. He's scoring goals for fun. Stick him up front, he'll get goals. 23 apps, 11 goals. Ridiculous.

Personally I would have gone for Lee Hughes. Yes he is 36 and not the most popular given his history, but he is a goal scorer. I know he hasnt been in the Notts team but his record over the last 2 years stands up to most at this level. A 6 month contract would have been ok.

He would score more goals than O'Halloran for certain who whilst he will work hard etc, 1 goal in 9 games is about right I would say.

Baxter has shown he can do it at this level so we should be interested. I would have also looked at Akpo Sodge (signed for Scunny) and Joe Garner (signed for Preston). There are players out there but its difficult on our resources. I think Baxter up front with say Akpo or Cole could be good.

These clubs may have offered more money but they are proven at this level and I would think would be interesing in joining a top of the table team.

I am really concerned that without Cass, we'll be relying too much on Akpro and could struggle to score enough goals to maintain our position.

Ronnie is actively looking for a replacement for Cass so it shouldn't fall all on Akpro's shoulders.
