2-0 Swindon. We are struggling to create any kind of meaningful chance.

At the moment, every result we need is going against us. Even a win now won't be enough to finish higher than ninth. :(

Orient commentators: “for a team that has to win Tranmere are taking their time at free kicks”

Great goal Rovers. Good move and great header from Hemmings.

Rovers lead at the break arguably against the run of play as Murphy has been the busier keeper but I’m not complaining. A very well worked goal from us and a good header from Hemmings.
Bookings for Davies and OConnor in the first half.

Doing ok but in the end it will be too little too late given the other scores. Swindon now 3-0 up

Hawkes limps off injured. Mcmanaman on for hopefully his last appearance for us

Joey Barton's Bristol Rovers are giving it a go. Starting the day level on points behind Northampton but with a worse goal difference, they are 7-0 up and have just overtaken Northampton on goals scored. The Cobblers lead 3-1 at Barrow, but were 3-0 up after 22 minutes and will rue easing off.

A very comfortable second half for us and we see the game out for a 1-0 win. Murphy a virtual spectator second half. Defensively very good albeit the hosts looked like they were already on holiday. Cogley had a very good game and I was thinking out of Murphy and the back 4, how many of them will be here next season as either out of contract, over 40 or linked with other clubs.

Good for Hemmings to get another goal and if we give him service he is capable of 20 goals next season.

We finish the season 9th.

Good to finish the season on a high, but disappointing that due to failings earlier this year we couldn’t get over the line. Now wait to see what summer brings…

Weirdly that win means that we have achieved the most points in a Tier 4 season since our promotion in 1988/89! Ifs, buts and maybes ...

Indeed and some will use that stat as a deflection from the reality that it was clearly a very poor division this season and with anything approximating to decent away form we would have been home and dry. It is a massive opportunity missed in my view and with Stockport almost certainly up next season and maybe Wrexham also it will likely be much harder next year. Very disappointing but the die was cast some time ago sadly.

It was not a poor division at all.

This season seventy seven points were required to make the play offs, a much higher total than last time around, and the top seven was clearly stronger this season, with substantial clubs like Bristol Rovers, Swindon and Vale in there, as opposed to Morecambe, Cambridge and Cheltenham last year.

I thought it was a good performance today and a deserved victory, the first complete away performance for several months.

In the first half we were happy to keep our shape and let Orient have the ball in non-threatening areas and then try and pick them off. However, unlike the majority of recent away games, when we did have possession we showed more quality and purpose on the ball and looked threatening. Yes, Murphy did have to make a couple of decent saves to shots from distance, but the best chance of the first twenty minutes actually fell to us when Hawkes was completely unmarked in the eighteen yard box, but Hemmings underhit his pass and allowed the defender to intercept. The goal when it did come was a terrific move, with Morris slipping Cogley in down the right and his excellent cross superbly converted by Hemmings.

In the second half we were in complete control. Orient completely ran out of ideas and we put several good moves together which resulted in chances, and it is slightly frustrating that we did not add to the scoreline.

Individually, I thought Cogley, Davies and Hemmings had very good games, and Warrington was excellent both with and without the ball. Cogley got forward at will today, which emphasises that he is not told to stay back in away matches, but will get into advanced areas if we have control of the midfield. However, the best player on the pitch was Kieron Morris, and I hope that is not the last time we see him in a Rovers shirt.

There were nice scenes at the end with Micky and the players giving a long ovation to the 800 travelling Rovers fans, who reciprocated by chanting Mellon's name. A good turnout given the game was always likely to be a dead rubber.

It is a disappointment not to make the top seven, but I think it has been a decent season with one of our better points totals of recent years in the Football League. The first choice eleven which we saw this afternoon is strong, and now we just need to add some depth and breadth.
