Fantastic result today, and what sounded like a fantastic performance. Much more focused than last week. Players worked hard and of course defence was solid with Goodison back at the heart of it.

Tranmere move up to 11th and the impressive away form continues.
Well done lads =D>

its that annoying millwall bloke again.

Hello Tranmere

Well done today at Orient.
a few of you did say last week you would go and get a result today away in East London and you did.

Did Mr Moore change the team around much from last week or just give them a rockett up arse? Is Baz Savage any good? He was pretty useless for us but scored a couple of vital goals to keep us up last year.

Boz you said last week you were hoping we beat leeds and....
we bloody well did.
actually murdered them. Seriously. I dont see mfc through rose tinted glasses but they were shockingly average today.

Anyone fancy a beer Jan 17th for game Den?

Great win, wasn't there so cannot really comment on performance etc but from reports and radio sounds like a perfect away display. Nice and compact, solid without the ball, committed and hard working display, a bit of luck for the goal but it went in and we held out for a change.

It's great that Ian Goodison is back in the side, we really do miss him for some reason, he brings confidence to those around him, and although he does have his moments when mistakes creep ito his game, but normally he's solid and dependable and rubs off on those around, we need someone like that to replace him when he's not available.

Great display, but it's worth nothing unless they start backing it up with some home displays and some points too. Come on you whites!!!=D>

listened to the game on tranny world. as someone else said, sounded like the classic away display. sounded particulaly like we did well not to sit too far back and invite pressure like many teams do at this level once they get a lead. i'm pleased for shuker, another goal will do his confidence a world of good. great stuff all round. only bad news is 2 home games coming up in a row... ;-)

to anyone who went, how did edds do?

halla, i was as pleased as anyone when i saw you come from behind against leeds scum.

thanks sonkorly

mfc are often known as the most hated team in england execpt when we play Leeds or Man utd!!!

Bas Savage?
filling gaps or a worthy striker?

H

Hallamski, I'm chuffed for you that Millwall stuffed Leeds, it will certainly make work less painful come Monday. Didn't go today, sounds like Danny Coyne had one of his best games to secure us the points. Bas, not a star striker, think maybe he'll get about 10 this season. However his all round game, setting up others, going deep to get the ball makes him an asset to the team.

Just back, long day, excellent result. First half we were the better team, maybe could have scored a second, but not too many clear cut chances. Second half seemed to last about a week. The back line was immense, Coyne did his job with a great late save and generally everyone worked their socks off. Shukes goal was a peach, he had a good 45 then went quiet. Savage worked his ass off in a 4-5-1 shape. Edds worked hard in midfield, scurried around, even got forward and was unlucky not to score in the first half with a half chance from 10 yards.

The last 10 minutes were pretty hair raising at times, although with Goodison and Chorley in commanding form, you had the sneaking feeling we'd do it.

Now we have to build on it and win the next two games or it's back to square one again. Over to you lads.......

I went yesterday. A really good win and its important we keep picking these up away from home with our poor home form. Having said that hopefully we can get our home form back on track this week.

To the match and after a mixed start we took control of the 1st half and went in deserved leaders at half time. Jennings should really have done better with a header early on, Edds shot just wide and Kay had a couple of good efforts from long range before Shuker opened the scoring. Shuker's goal was a nice one... it fell to him 25 yards out and he hit it on the bounce almost with the outside of his boot and it curled away from the keeper and into the net. No deflection like the official site would have you believe. Although maybe their keeper may have done better as it didn't seem to be the most powerful shot. After that and until half time we continued to dominate. Shotton headed just wide from a Shuker cross and again maybe should have hit the target.

2nd half wasn't as good from Rovers. I suppose its natural to drop back a bit defending a lead but unlike the 1st half when Edds, Moore and Shuker were supporting Savage, in this half Savage seemed isolated and the ball kept coming back on most occasions. They came close twice with firstly a cross which decieved Coyne, hit the post and was about to be tapped in until Chorley made an excellent challenge to put it behind for a corner. Then almost straight away they got in down our right and put a ball across the face of the goal only for Boyd to shoot wide with the goal gaping. On occasions Savage caused problems and got in dangerous positions but these came to nothing as did a Shuker free kick which went just over. Thornton came on for them and got the abuse he deserves and some more on top of that.

As the game drew to a close they still looked a little dangerous with our players not helping themselves by giving the ball away. Eddy Sonko in partucular when he came on. Orient carved a few more opportunities out and we had Danny Coyne to thank on two occasions. The first when he tipped over from a free kick and the second when he dived brilliantly to keep out a shot from the edge of the area destined for the top corner. We managed to hold on though and the 3 points were much needed.

Special mentions for Bas Savage up front. Very good again. Also Goodison who makes an unbeliveable difference and put in another superb performance after a tough and tiring week for him. Chorley made some important blocks and clearances too and looks so much more confident next to Goodison. Danny Coyne made 2 top saves to keep us infront although he still needs to command his area better. And finally the SWA... another great vocal display from us and it can only help when we get behind the lads like we did yesterday.
